Hi all,

In an effort to get back into gaming again im building up an Ultramarines force out of all the spare minis I have, plus a few eBay bargains ive grabbed. As yet I havent got the codex yet but I have an urge to start modelling right now so my question is:

Do lightning claws still have to be bought as pairs? One of the minis I have is the vet sergeant from the boxed set with the pair of claws, but I seen (and painted) models that only have the one.

Ideally I\'d like to make up two vet. sergeants, one with a claw and plasma pistol, and another with a claw and bolt pistol. According to the codex, would this pose any problems?

Yes & yes...

Pg. 46 of the brand spanking new mini rules from Battle for Macrappy says:

\"Lightning claws are commonly used in matched pairs, as only a second claw can provide an additional close combat weapon attack bonus for a model equipped with one.\"

So, one claw yes, no bonus, yes.

Actually for anyone thats interested, heres what Ive dug out / bought cheaply so far. Lots of paint stripping to do :D

1 x Commander (storm boldter and power sword)
1 x Techmarine
1 x Apothecary
1 x Standard bearer

2 x New style tactical squads
2 x Old style tactical squads (the ones from the boxed game; used to come with a load of goff orks and gretchin. Probably only use these in an absoute dire emergency)

6 x scouts
2 x scout sergeants

1 x Vet sergeant with two claws. This ones gonna lose a claw and gain a plasma pistol.

7 x terminators, 5 are the termie plastics from the space hulk re-release, one is armed with an assault cannon and another has a thunderhammer but currently lacks his shield. (Methinks he\'ll soon be lacking his hammer too :D :D ).

Oh, and a boxed set of 6 plastic marines who will more than likely be modified to hold various different special weapons I have lying around in my bits box.

The claws are basically some kind of \"mastercrafted\" power weapon:
-You can re-roll failed \"to wound\" rolls,
-You get +1 A when used as a pair.
-They count as power weapons...
That\' all there is to them...
