Newbie question: priming flesh/metal privateer minis??

Hello,
I\'ve just bought two privateer minis - the spriggan and the titan canoneer

I mean to put them in a diorama (ok I know they are not from the same universe but who cares, I love them both.
The problem I have is: should I prime they white or black? I have to prime by brush-on as I can\'t spray at home, and all my white primers are a bit less even than the black ones which are more uniform. The two characters have lots of metal parts so black should be a good choice, but at the same time there is grey flesh and or red colours that won\'t come out quite right on a black priming.
I\'m at a loss, all advices most most welcome.

Nothing says you have to prime the entire model the same color. If you\'re using brush on primers, seems the easy solution here is prime the metal areas black and the other areas white.
