So wait let me get this correct, you are complaining that a company who puts out generic minis is putting out minis that are well Generic....WTF.

Why not? This is a new line and the perfect opportunity for Reaper to inject some panache and zest that is seriously lacking in their other ranges. They haven\'t bothered on the whole. Can\'t blame people for knocking them. At least GW try most of the time!!

I think many people use the word \'generic\' when what they actually mean is \'dull\' or just plain \'shite\'!!

I love the middle one. It has a real superhero/villain feel to it.
And you would know, as our resident Supers specialist :) I definitely agree with you, incidentally. It must be his mask...

One helluva moulding line, though.

I must admit that I\'m not unimpressed with the figures (hey they are minis) but as has been said there is a \"Generic\" or to be more accurate a \"Formulaic\" approach to the minis Reaper are producing for this range.
If, as I suspect, it\'s supposed to be a Steampunk type of theme I\'d have expected a bit more flair, panache and perhaps a bit \"Over the Top\".

That is like saying I I don\'t like strippers because they are naked. I have yet to find a company that puts figures out of the same quality and price as reaper.

...if strippers were naked, what would they \'strip\'?

I think that is intentional....the characters name is Crosswire:Super Villian.

That may help explain the supervilliany-ious....lol

I\'m tending to like what I see of the Chronoscape stuff. Is there going to be a regular schedule of releases?

Someone posted the Alliance (or some other distributor) release schedule over on Reaper forums, and for the next few months at least it looked like 4 Chronoscope figs per month. My guess would be that if the line does well they\'ll have about the same number of releases per month as they do on Dark Heaven Legends.

I don\'t think the Chronoscape figures are limited to steampunk, or any other sort of theme. It\'s a cool sounding title for what is essentially the kitchen sink - everything (but fantasy) can fit in there. So there\'s no overarching story or game or mood that it fits with. Similar to the fantasy line, really. It\'s to stay as open as possible to maximize the possibility that it works with whatever game you want to use it in. I can easily see the appeal of games with a strong aesthetic like Infinity or Hell Dorado. And on some of those games I don\'t like the aesthetic and wouldn\'t purchase even 1 in 10. So there\'s a value to both the scattershot and focused approaches, I figure.

As for Kaylee... that\'s the first thing I thought when I saw that sculpt in the green at Reaper Con, and I even mentioned it to the sculptor, Bob Ridolfi, who has never even seen Firefly. (Which I recommended he do, of course!) But I\'ll definitely be picking that one up to paint her up like Kaylee some time!

There is a difference, I think, between generic (not tied to a game system) minis and generic (lacking in any sort of visual appeal) minis. As I said, I like the wrench - but I can see why these would seem ho-hum to most folks.

As for price and quality...I can\'t think of a reaper figure I\'ve gotten in the past 3 years that I didn\'t have to put hours of clean-up work into. Mold lines, miscasts, sheeting - and I won\'t even talk about the problems with pitting I\'ve been having recently. The price is going up, and the quality still isn\'t as consistent as GW or Privateer. Hell, I\'d be happy with a boring sculpt that I didn\'t have to clean first.

I\'m not a Reaper-basher. I think they are a fantastic company, and you only need to look at what the fans say about them to know they are doing much right. I\'ve got plenty of Reaper minis lying about, and some of them are among my favorites.

In fact, most of my favorite sculptors do lots of work for them.. Jason Weibe for instance, and it my mind he always gets it right.

But they are not unflawed, and that is all I\'m pointing out.
