Maenas,

thanks, the recipe is quite simple, the secret ingredient is VGC 72066 Tan (try to compare it with some metallic copper in a shop), and I use VMC 70872 Chocolate Brown for shadows, VGC 72041 Dwarf Skin for highlights and VGC 72004 Elf Skintone for extreme highlight.

I starting with Chocolate Brown basecoat, and will leave it in the deepest recesses.
Next comes 1:1 ChocolateBrown:Tan, covering all the lit/raised parts (where the sun can shine, if you are turning aroung the mini).
Then Tan for the lower 3/4 part, 1:1 Tan:DwarfSkin for the lower 1/2, and Dwarf Skin for the lowest 1/4.
Finally some Elf Skintone for some of the edges.

This is a bit too simple, but was remarkably successful for the middle of the axe. I need some more study to use it correctly on tubes and other simple shapes, but for now (to be similar to the other members of the army) should do. Especially as I targeted only a TTQ++ level.

But I honestly do not remember where did I this this idea from, it happened ~3 years ago, when I painted my night goblin army.
