Night goblin "snow & ice" army?

Hey everyone!
I posted originally in the wrong section, and was advised to try again here for some inspiration!

Long story short: I used to play 40k (among quite a few others) in the 90's, but have recently returned, this time from a painting point of view instead of gaming. Really taking alot more time and alot more conversions in the army.

I used to collect ( mainly ) dark angels, and this time round the first mini's I bought were...space marines. I've almost finished painting them.. Table top standard really, nothing too special. However, even with the new poses possible with the models, I wasn't impressed with them and started looking further afield at the GW models, remembering Warhammer orcs and goblins.

So this is where I begin, at the start of collecting a primarily goblin army, but I want to make them...different.

Maybe it's the time of year, but I was thinking of a snow goblin army. Not so much the black cloaks and worshiping the moon or sun, but freezing themselves and generally wearing Fur, squigs all 'blue' from the cold, the odd gobbo trying to set his mate on fire to keep himself warm, iciciles hanging from noses, and much much more!

This is pretty crazy, but I really do fancy attempting this! What I'm generally after is some inspiration - i' ve seen amazing gobbo armies, but almost nothing other than the old 'baking soda' base..is this because it's insane to attempt this?

Any help, ideas, inspiration would be much appreicated guys!

On thought has arisen immediately - icicles? What's the best way if going about them? I've heard about clear resin, but icicles start opaque, and move to clear towards the peak?

Any thoughts? I'm thinking just basic green stuff "drips" for basic models, but for characters, been trying to think of a solution...

Granddad!
I use water effects (WE) & clear bead wire (for making necklaces) for icicles, make yourself a mini "gallows" looking arrangement with a couple of toothpicks and a cork, to give you something to hang your icicles from

drill several holes in the underside and glue in short lengths of wire, use whatever glue you like, PVA, CA, no need to be fussy about length at this stage as you can trim them up after the glue has dried

once the glue has dried, trim to the required length, I use another toothpick and get a blob of WE, and starting at the toothpick end, draw it down the wire to form the classic icicle shape, let it dry. You can repeat as many times as you like to get the desired effect

Cool, might have to give it a go. Thanks :)

I remember reading about something similiar - 'Eavy Metal Painter used his hair to simulate a blood drip hanging from a bloodied weapon, and just built up the layers until he got the Drip shape...
