NMM and horizons

well im just starting to incorporate this style into my painting but i can not figure out how you know where to put the horizon lines and on which parts

also, gold is much easier than silver, im not doing very well at silver yet

any tips for either?

For horizons i am taking you mean SENMM ( Sky to Earth Non Metallic Metal ) ??

For silver NMM i always water the paint down a lot more then i do for Gold NMM if that is any help.

ya i did mean SENMM, my bad i used to be so lazy when painting so i never really tried to do much mixing, now i want to because i hate table top quality and all my stuff MUST get better hahaha

watering down should help, i wasnt getting the soft look i was getting more just highlighted gray...

and thanks! i was on the B&C but its down and i wanted to get some input on my recent piece of work, and som on NMM

Heres a tip I saw that I have used a few times. If its a metal mini make sure its clean and shiny. Put a light over head and take a photo without a flash. You will now see where the highlights should be for the metals and if its shiny enough roughly where the horizon lines should be. I will try and find the article but I think it is in the cmon articles section.

Im always a step too fast with that primering...damn...well actually, black still reflects quite well...

i can kinda see lines on some parts, but the chestplate doesnt seem to reflect the line

Find something shiny and similar in shape. You should be able to see where the line goes. You can also cruse the minis with a score of 9 and above and find a heap of examples. Rackman would be a good start.

thanks! ill do that, see how it works, ive scrapped the NMM work on my minis for now i couldnt get the colour scheme to work without silver and i dont think im going to be able to do silver for awhile longer
