NMM Bronze using GW paints

hey man...

i\'m new to the whole nmm metal thing, but i have a Rackham dwarf, the leader from the Meteors box, on the go right now...

for my basecoat i chose P3\'s Bloodstone, which is a lighter tone of GW\'s Dark Flesh...

so i would say start with that...

i used Vallejo\'s Smoke for a wash over it, and then recoated with the basecoat...
it\'s lookin\' like i may be goin\' in the right direction...
now i just have to decide what i\'m gonna use to highlight...

hope that helps a little...

cheers
jah

I may have to try the bloodstone. I have that color and have never used it. I will give it a go and see how it looks. Thanks!

To me it sounds more like you\'re talking about a copper tone. For that, P3 Bloodstone or GW Dark Flesh is a good base coat. Shade it with dark brown and highlight it with a light flesh tone and then some white for the brightest highlights, to make it look metallic. Adding some verdigris is also a good idea.

Bronze is generally quite similar to gold or brass, although slightly duller in colour, but is often depicted as slightly darker, as it turns darker when it oxidises.

I have two VMC colors; Bronze Green, and German Camo Black Brown. I think these would work too but I cannot decide which color I want to use.

German Cam. Black Brown is my universal shading colour! I use it for shadows for 90% of all my painting. It\'s one of the paints I couldn\'t live without.

Do you have VMC goldbrown? I think it would fit nicely to broze too.

@ Einion: Thanks for the link.

@ Gale: I do have goldbrown. I think I may use it as the base color and then shade with either bronze green or Germ Cam Black Brown. I do not care much for starting with real dark colors as a basecoat.
