Hi, I have started painting a unit of GW ogres in a Brettonian scheme..... would any of you fine painters maybe have a method to paint the fleur-de-lis in a NMM style?
Thank you in advance.... pics to follow soon.

Darren Latham has given a good explaination of his NMM here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=23583

Hope this helps and if not, there are a fair few NMM tutorials on the main site also.

Cheers,

Joe

Paint one (GW) mithril silver and go over with a black ink wash.

Using a torch get a light/dark contrast & take a picture. Use the picture as a reference for all the Fleur-de-lis you paint, and try to emulate the dark/light portions from teh photo in any colour you choose.

You should also have a look in the historical gallery of this site :

Most of these motifs are either sewed on or painted on. So in real life they don\'t shine as much as real metals.

So NMM is a solution but don\'t go overboard on the reflexions and on the contrast.

Also, Google up classic paintings. For instance :
