nmm started advice needed and nmm style non metalic colours

hi there.

ive recently returned to painting after 15 years and cant belive how much things have changed. so many new techniques and paint types but the nmm stuff has really peeked my interest.

problem is how to start. ive been looking for video tutorials but cant find any. i also want to be able to use this style for non metal colours like yellow one did on his amazing calgar mini.

can anyone point me to a beginers/idiots guide to nmm? id be really greatful.

Stew's got the right idea. As someone who has just started working with nmm myself, the tutorials are a great place to start. But it's really all about practice.

Keep it simple where you can, model choice, colour choice and technique choice.

This is definitely a walk-before-you run technique for most people, so start simple and work up is the way to go IMO.

Lots and lots of prior threads here asking about NMM, would be worth your time checking through them.

thanks a lot guys. apreciate the help. i am a bit of an obsessive so ill be spending 5 hours a day practicing this.lol already painting for 12 hours a day , 6 days a week. truing to set up a commission painting business and want to know all the tecniques i may be asked for.

knowing is easy,there is a list of techniques on this site. executing them effectively on the other hand...........

...but no pictures in your Gallery Get some taken, bung them up either in the Gallery or in a project log thread & let people see your work. There was a recent thread here with people (like me) stressing practice and it was pointed out that repeating the same error over is unhelpful. Get pics posted so that the mis-steps can be pointed out early and swifter progress made! As well as compliments on the good bits too, which is always nice

BPI and Tommie are spot on. If you want to break into the commission business, which is already a very full market, you're going to need to offer something that people can't get elsewhere. And that's going to take some serious dedication. Even the best guys out there are making pennies with the amount of work they put in. It has to be something you do for enjyoyment, that you can also make money on. If your primary goal is to make money, you'd be better served getting any job that pays minimum wage.
