Doesn\'t hold water in this case. NMM requires more paints than using real metallics.
The real reason would be the fact that most GW staff are into the gaming side and the painting is secondary. So tis guy isn\'t interested in advanced techniques or ways to paint that take more than a couple of hours.

Great link to that NMM site by the way. One of the best articles I have read.

I find at the local store, NMM has a couple of things going against it. First off the GW people don\'t really know how to do NMM effectively enough to teach someone, and they don\'t have time to learn. And I also think that the opinion is that NMM doesn\'t look as good on the gaming table, which I don\'t really agree with.

NMM is another technique, and it only takes time and practice to learn.

Up here in eastern Canada, the hobby is kind of lacking. Not many people in the local painting community seem to be learning things like NMM or Blending with thin paint. It still kinda irks me to see them teaching people to paint with thick old paint right out of the GW bottle. I would like to see them showing how to use a pallette and thinner paint.

Sorry for the little rant on GW practicies guys.

I think that is true enough but not only for GW. My LGS has a painter on staff who is pretty much the same.

i think that they dislike nmm as they paint models for armys and dont have time to make the models look fancy with nmm when they are painted for tabletop gaming

A GW worker told me they don\'t practice it because it only reflects accuratly assuming a certain lightsource, where as metallics reflect better or something in whatever light. Confusing? yes. I like either way tho, as long as its OH SO STYLISH
