Hi All,
I am new to CMON and have posted a few pics. My question is, what does one have to do to get some comments and feedback?? I don\'t mind--no I CRAVE:p constructive criticism--I really want to improve my painting skills, and my posted pics have only been on a couple of weeks to a couple of days--- but it\'s kind of frustrating. Pearls of wisdom someone? anyone?

I don\'t know if you asked for comments in the description of your minis, but that\'s one way to encourage people to leave comments. Other than that there isn\'t a whole lot you can do. Keep in mind that there\'s nearly 15,000 minis on this site, and the ones that are yours are a very small fraction of that 15,000. It\'s going to take a while for the folks that comment to run across your stuff.
Of course some people leave direct links and ask for comments, and people are often willing to oblige. Same for the shoutbox, if there\'s a ton of people on, you might use the shoutbox and say hey, take a look at mini XXXX and tell me what you think I could do to improve etc etc. Of course some people think this is a blatant cry for votes, but if critique is what you want, sometimes you have to ask for it, since its hard to get it just by sitting back and waiting :) The squeeky wheel is always the one that gets oiled and all that...

P.S. I took a look at your minis you have posted, and here\'s what I think:
You really need to work on shading and highlighting, what I can see of it is rather subtle, and it doesn\'t stick out well at this scale. Additionally, you need to shade your metallics. I use ink washes for this, brownish ones for gold, black/blue ones for silver. Right now your metallics are kind of flat, remember to treat them just like anything else, they need to be shaded and highlighted too!

Thanks KatieG for your comment! You\'re right---shading/highlighting metallics is something I rarely do-I will be more aware of that. My biggest problem is patience, which I tend to be thin on. I only recently started to concentrate on making sure the paints were thinned and layering my colors more. But I\'m a work in progress!lol

easy

Make things easy. The best way to get comments for your first few posts is to ask for them in the forum, which you sort of did here, but then to include hyperlinks in your post straight to the minis you put up. As it is I\'d have to get out of forums, go to the browse screen, then enter your name, which in the internet age of short attention spans I would have forgotten by then;)
Always remember, there are nearly 15,000 pictures. It takes time to get to them all.

Try to leave comments on other people\'s stuff. And not just on Jen Haley\'s either (she won\'t answer anyways). I usually have a peek at folks\' stuff when they leave a comment on mine. I think alot of people do this. Call it a fair trade. :)

And the shoutbox is also a great idea. I used it myself when I first came on 6 months ago.:D

Good luck!
