Aye, you're right... Salute is cheaper and still manages to give nice stuff away. I'd wager though that a big-ass room at Excel is cheaper than the massive space GW take at the NEC though. Also, i'm not sure if the traders at Salute pay for stands or not but if so, that will cover
Did i read that right? London docklands cheaper to rent out than birmingham? I doubt that greatly even for a smaller space it would probably work out more sure the cost of renting. Stall plots out to vendors makes up for this but if they charge too much for that they cut the number of vendors that attend which has a knock on effect with what customers attend
at the moment i'm slowly getting back into the hobby from when i played gw stuff so gamesday has it's instant appeal for me like any number of us who have used or still use gw stuff but salute is a different kettle of fish there are a load of different vendors there many ( no offence to them) creating products i'm never likely to touch because they don't interest me for some vendors there they would only make cash off some people from impulse buys
i'm not saying this is the only way they will make money far from it but to someone like me before i buy a ticket i'm going to be looking who is there i probably could have gone this year if i pushed sooner but one of the major companies i'm currently buying minis from (soda pop, hey salute organisers on the off chance you are reading this can you sort them for next year cheers) weren't in attendance. Sure it is a great day out nonetheless but a lot of people got to these types of shows with an agenda of what they are looking to get out of it seeing stuff you never have is a bonus but if the bread and butter vendors aren't there customers aren't going to attend
so yes the vendor's stall rent can off set the cost but for a one day event and many of these vendors ctravelling.in internationally to a supposed small by comparison event compared to games day. And those vendors expecting to turn a profit or atleast recoup rental travel and accomodation charges while they attend it still points to gw unneccesarily overcharging for something hoping their customers will see it as justifiable
that said whoever said 14year olds don't have the life experience to know to demand quality for what you are paying is also bull my friends and i made gw customer service work their rear ends off for the money they took off us at that age miscasts were less of an issue then ( not saying it didn't happen) but more mispacks i had more problems with wrong bits or missing bits in packs than anything else that had.me convinced they did hire retarded trolls that couldn't tell left from right to pack their orders one thing that was noticable straight away was they did offer better customer service to those 14 year olds than adults my parents rang up once about. A missing piece for.me and they got the missing piece but when i rang upalmost every time they were throwing in other bits as compensation for their mistake usually about a five pound blister from the same line
i won't say how much free stuff i got when they screwed up delayed and over charged for an order of sisters of battle it may make some cry *cough* ten man seraphim squad and old mk2 rhino with sisters conversion pack free*cough*
