:wow::eek: Excellent! A definate 9+ in my book! The base is beautiful! Well, not beautiful, I guess, ;) but appropriate and beautifully done. The \"source lighting\" while not overpowering is also nicely done. Very, very nice work!

Very nice composition and painting skills Eric. It\'s a 9 for me. Would have been a 10 if there had been some kind of conversion done on the Inquisitor.

another doosie!

Great work again Eric.

I will admit though, that the \'claws entereing the scene\' are a bit confusing. The tentacles coming up from the sewer grate are very menacing! The light sourcing and painted shadows really create a wonderful \'pulled out of a painting\' effect.

I also understand what you mean by \'painters block\' although I have something more sinister, Painters Constipation......

I really want to paint, and even sit at my little painting desk, but nothing comes of it....just a bunch of unnecessary grunts....lol

It\'s funny you mention that as that was one of the main conflicts for me. I really wanted to do a conversion, but being a limited edition mini, and a gift, I figured I would leave as is, and rather augment it with the base instead. Which resulted in by far the most elaborate base I\'ve done.

Supervike, I know what you mean with the claws and I agree. I was shooting for giving the illusion of something \"chaosy\" there without showing it, and perhaps this was not the right solution, I was very uncomfortable with it all along but never had a better idea. So....ideas?

@EricJ : don\'t get me wrong, it really works for me as is, but I needed an argument to say why it wasn\'t a 10 ;). By the way, instead of the blue/white background, maybe a black background would fit the scene better. I had a hard time noticing the lightsourcing at first :p.

@greenstuff - not a worry, just giving my thinking on this project, talking through the process seems to give me a better idea about how the thing came together so I can improve next time! And your comment was definately logged into the \"useful info for next project\" compartment in my brain.

That may be a very good idea about the background, something I had not thought of. When I get home from work I\'ll try to play around and replace that to see how it looks, I\'ll post it in this thread for thoughts.

Well considering the location of the source lighting here it wouldn\'t work for this diorama. But a cool way to show somthing menacing without actually including it in the scene would be to have the shadow of the thing on a wall beeing the inquisitor. Kinda like in batman comics were you\'d see batman\' shadow on the wall.

@EricJ : Check out Victoria\'s entries for source lighting, the black background really works for me:

It\'s true, it would probably work great! Of course now you have this in my head and I\'m at work with no photoshop access for the next...7 hours :(

I think this is an excellent miniature and base and said as much when the base was shown.

Now of course, I\'m waiting in envy while Eric \'supposedly\' sends me his paint schemes as I try to \'immitate\' art.

:D

Seriously, love the miniature, really shows your versatility.

@FF I totally forgot I owed you a PM! I got past my block and just started painting for about 10 straight hours and everything else seemed to slip away. I did finally figure out the PM thing and it sounds like a great way to spend my time at work

Oops, sorry :). I\'ve got one more little hour to get through and I\'ll be able to get my hands on paint ... joy ;).

By the way, this may be a little bit OOT, but where are the US GD held? I know of Baltimore, Altanta, and Chicago, but is that all?

I should really figure that out one day, it\'s my goal to get an entry for a US GD, eventually, although I\'d love to make it to UK GD, but that\'s another goal. I think there is also a LA and Seattle GD as well? I was hoping to get my entire sisters army done, and a painting entry this year, but we\'ll see, work and real life is slowing down my painting time lately.

Same here for the \"work and real life\" part ;). If it helps any, I think you can easily get into first cut and surely get a few Daemons ;).

Atlanta as well, second year coming up in about three months.
Are you planning on going? Could you get us some pictures here on CMON when it\'s over? I always find it hard to find the pictures for the US winners from all the US GDs. I mean that up till now, I\'ve only seen those for Baltimore and Chicago.

@FF ok, can you send me a quick PM, I seem to be able to figure out how to reply, but seem to lack the mental ability to figure out how to send to a new person.

@Joshua It is the limited inquisitor, which was given to me out of the blue by my gaming store, basically because they wanted to see what I could do. I had thought I missed my chance to paint one of these up, it was quite a nice surprise!

@Greenstuff Thank you for the kind words, the only problem is that in my head I still don\'t see myself as that level painter. If you look at my galery, it\'s only been about 5 months since my first attemt at painting a mini without relying on drybrushing the whole thing, the IG was my first try at it. And there was 5 years of painting before that which is still how I envision my ability. It\'s starting to change in time as I look over at the finished minis and exclaim in head \"I can\'t believe I painted that.\"
