I just picked up a copy of Miniature Mentor\'s \"Complete Guide.\" And I have got to tell you how great it is.

It will show you \"Live\" how to paint. Techniques about lighting, coverage, thinning your paints...etc.

If you\'re struggling to get to the next stage or wanting to improve on a technique that you just can\'t seem to master, this is a GOTTA HAVE!

Only $30 to download, and you\'re ready to go.

I\'m not trying to sell anything, I am just a grateful customer. I get no reimbursement for this post.

I was struggling for months on the NMM technique, and this was a godsend.

I mean, for about the cost of a GW Vehicle, you can get a virtual one-on-one with an award winning painter!

And since it isn\'t live, you can rewind and replay it over and over.

I gotta tell you, watching it happen is SO MUCH better than reading, or looking at step by step pictures.

I\'m even willing to buy one for a newbie with potential!

I think it\'s for a good cause!
Right?

So here\'s what I want to do:
Have the group of posters here in CMON nominate their favorite underdog.
We\'ll have a round of nominations, then a chance for everyone to vote on the top ten finalists, then have a chance for the finalists to post their work, and finally a vote to determine which finalist has the most potential for improvement.

RULES:
1. No self-nominations, you MUST nominate someone you think has the potential to be great, but just isn\'t quite mastering it yet.
2. You can only nominate one person.
3. No matter how many people nominate for a person, only once counts. If everyone picks the same person, it is still only one nomination for that person.
4. If possible, give some reasons for your nomination. Where are they struggling, what is their strength, why do you see potential for greatness?
5. Have fun!

scottradom, as he gets up at 5 in the morning, paints for an hour, goes to work, comes home, plays with his kids, spends time with his wife, paints again, does more work and then goes to sleep to start it all again. youve got to agree, thats dedication

Tzor - he has beautiful choice in minis, leaves lots of comments for others, and seems genuinely enthralled with the hobby. His painting is definatley a labour of love but needs some help.

Waghorn41. He started off at a 4-ish level and has, through a great deal of determination, bumped himself up to a 6-ish level in a very short time. He\'s modest about what he\'s done but willing to try anything not matter how far out of his comfort zone it takes him. That\'s what this hobby is about. Not the beautiful work of the mega-painters (though I give them credit for what they do). It\'s the hard work and determination of us little guys.

I nominate Automaton. He\'s so close!

I appreciate the appreciation Max/Hestan. I\'ll just pick the thing up based on Jesterz reccomendation. I\'ll just cut another branch off my thriving and healthy money tree! ....who\'m I kidding. My money tree is starting to look like Charlie Brown\'s Christmas tree.

I\'d nominate Hestan101, but he\'s so damn sporadic! Knuckle down and paint some stuff kid!

I throw my weight in on the nod for Alex. He\'s a big part of this community and despite a complete lack of any discernable talent he keeps contibuting with submissions, comments, and crit\'s. I think ANY form of instruction would help catapult him out of the rubbish state his brush skills currently are. Even when faced with continual messages like \"You suck\" and \"Every night I ask Jesus to kill you\" he still keeps on keeping on. I don\'t know why he doesn\'t just block my eMails though.

Besides he\'s a kid, and what youngster doesn\'t like free stuff! I can tell by the pic\'s of him snowboarding and stuff that he desperately needs the money, as he lives in conditions not unsimilar to Charlie from \"Charlie and the Choclate Factory\".

So you can pull my name, I appreciate the thought but I think I\'ll go give this a download.

Very cool of you to do this Jesterz. Nice to see people really get behind the stuff they love and share.

Oh yeah.
That:
Nominations end tomorrow night {4/12}at 11:59pm CST.

ooooh a toughy ........

Youn Ari... Squiggy is coming on so good but if he get\'s any better gonna have to break his fingers to eliminate future GDUK competition...

Darklord has shot on so much in the last year or two.And is just missing a little refinement here and there.

I\'ll join in on the waghorn41 chant though .. It\'s watching the determination to keep going at it and a 2 point average jump is massive really and again the benefit from the dvd format could be just the thing to round out a fledgling talent

If you feel so strongly, when the time comes to vote, that is where your \"weight\" will tip the scale.
Man, try to do something nice and make it fair...<grumble, grumble>

The idea is to get as many of these up-and-comers a chance at it as possible.
It isn\'t a popularity contest, yet.
That isn\'t until the voting starts...LOL.lol
