Non GW parts in tournaments, etc.

I saw a couple of examples on miniature ratings, where folk were dropping the score a few points by taking into consideration that GW wouldn\'t let you enter tournaments, etc, because your army had been partly converted with another manufacturers parts. Now even if that was true, couldn\'t you just tell them that you built in yourself out of green stuff, or sheet plastic, etc? I was curious, as I\'m trying to put a Warhammer army together that I\'d eventually like to enter into competition. Thanks!

No.....that\'s the short answer.. GW are very protective over their IP and at official tournaments they hate to see other manufacturers parts or parts that look like other manufacturers.. At the end of the day unless your an absolute sculpting genius who is capable of reproducing umpteen parts exactly the same then they won\'t fall for the I sculpted it line.. I even saw at one tournament they took a pin vice to a piece to prove it wasn\'t GS after a long argument..(buggers ..) but at the end of the day it\'s their tournament they host it they aim to make a profit so going with other companies bits just rags em off...
