NonToxic WaterProof Clearcoats?

Howdy... me again. So i got all the Sea monkey/brine shrimp thing figgered out... turns out sea monkeys are bio-engineered and CAN\'T LIVE IN OPEN WATER LARGER THAN THEIR LITTLE BOWLS!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

So i got me a brine shrimp hatchery and two packets of freeze dryed salt water brine shrimp eggs. Now i\'m building Halloween Town from Tim Burton\'s The Nightmare Before Christmas for their home... but i can\'t find a nontoxic, waterproof clear coat! Anyone know of any? THANKS!

thanks,
itchy

Try Elmer\'s glue. You can chug that stuff all day undiluted straight from the tap and only develop a mild case of the \"sticky wickets\" :|~

If you dilute PVA with water, then brush it on something it acts as a tough clearcoat. I\'m not sure how long it would last while submerged though...Try looking at resins perhaps. Maybe they are only toxic before they\'re cured?

I think white glue would soften right up in the water and then your monkeys would be sucking diluted glue, but I\'m not sure. You might call an aquarium/ fish store and find out what they recommend, you can\'t be the first person to try this...

Good Luck!

Thanks... well, the guy at my local aquarium shop is... well, *how to put this nicely* kinda creepy. i deal with him as little as possible. But i\'ll try the wax minus the monkeys and if that works i\'m set!

Thanks everybody!:D

So i ran out after work, picked up a box of parifin wax, ran home, ripped it open and... it\'s a block of wax *feels silly*. Ummmm... what do i do with it? Rub it on the buildings? Melt it onto the buildings?

ipaintminis... HELP!:duh:

You need a double boiler. Melt the wax then dip the buildings in it.

I would think that krylon clear or most others would be fine after they cured out? Not suitable for rodents as they would chew on it, but as long as it is not releasing toxins into the water it should be ok.

PS, I am NOT Becca\'s mom lol (that would be TAB\'s job - poor woman)
