Well, I was hoping to post in the fun thread, but its hard to Reminisce when you\'ve only been here a week.

Markustay: \"Hey, anybody remeber that crazy knife thing?\"
ForumAncient: \"Ummm...dude....that was like two days ago!\"

So, I got a new \"fun\" topic. How about we tell each other funny mini-related stories that don\'t have anything to do with the forum. It could be something that happened at your local game store, during a game session, or just when your painting your minis all by yourself. The stories should be of the \"embarrassing moment\" variety, preferrably with yourself as the brunt of the joke.

My personnel favourite: The first time I was reading the names on the bottles of citadel paints, I said out loud \"these names are really cool. some of them are pretty gross. like this one, Testicle Pink, when would you ever use that?\" There were about a dozen people present, and one of them took the jar out of my hand, read it, then held it in front of my eyes.\"Thats Tentacle Pink, you Nimrod!\" After that, I avoided going into the store on the weekends, because for a long time after some one would always say \"Hey look, its the testicle guy\"

P
Yes, and its testors not testeslol
Thanks for sharing your pain. I had a good laugh recently when a pal of mine stepped on a gretchin with a pointy helmet. The problem was the spike disappeared guess where. So deep you couldn\'t see it. Took me about five minutes digging and some tweezers (and wiskey for him to swig) to get that pig out. So if any of you need caltrops for adventuring look no further than your orc case...

@praetorian - shade of the old sharp d4\'s  remember lots of all-night d&d sessions where someone would wake up and step on a d4 after and bleed all the way across the room usually making enough noise to wake up the whole dorm floor.

supervike, that was great lol

We have somewhat of a running gag here, between me and a friend. I have always been to english mini-related sites and so I use the english terms when talking about minis in German. Then I learned some German terms... like \"Trockenbürsten\" (Drybrushing) or \"Akzentuieren\" (Highlighting). Those sound really, REALLY stupid to me.... Markus agrees. We freeze or faint every time someone says one of those words in our presence, wait ten seconds, and then carry on with whatever we were doing. Tends to confuse people.

Almost mini related. I used to work for a Christmas orniment manufacturer. The pieces were made by hand with colored bread dough. By the end of the day the dough got kind of gummey so it was thrown away. People would take small bits home to make things of their own design. You would go home with a bag of dough balls, each about the size of a golf ball, each a different color. Weeeelllll, someones dog got ahold of the bag, ate all the dough and for the next few days there were rainbow turds around the yard!! Eeeeeewwwwww, ickey.lol

My thing is, I always get hooked on completely OOP models and have to scramble around on Ebay to get them. This, of course, doesn\'t gain me any respect with the GW store gee... err... guys here in Copenhagen...

Once in a while, though, I catch them on points of GW figure history, and then it\'s points to me. I laugh all the way out of the store!!!

Ha,Ha!

Exciting to see what they say when I show up with my completely old school 1. ed terminators to their nostalgia Space Hulk campaign April2.

(okay, maybe I\'m the only one that gets worked up about this stuff...)

PMS Bloodbowl Incident

I was in a Bloodbowl league at a local game store. My Chaos team squaring off against a puny Human team. After failing a roll where I needed anything but a one, the PMS took over and I slammed my poor, painted Beastman down on the table, breaking it clean off its base and intimidating my opponent. Embarrassing display of temper. It all worked out in the end though. :D

One of my worst moments was while working as a RED SHIRT

It was when 2nd edition 40k was new-ish on the shelves. We used to run demo games for the \'kids\'. One kid came in and wanted to play with the orks, great. He got his gretchin/snots within firing range of my 10 man marine squad. 10 snots fired, hit, wounded & 10 marines failed their save, 10 dead marines. In a fit of rage I hit my fist onto the table, not noticing the ork stood where my fist went. The spike on his helmet entered the fleshy part of my fist and snapped off (does this sound familiar?). had to fish it out with a modelling knife, no tweezers!

So I lost all dignity

BTW: i remember when Tenticle pink was called Titalating pink......:innocent:

Well, my most infamous game store moment is in a 40k RT tournament, I was joking around with a guy who kept gloating that his hero had never been killed, etc...and joked, it I kill him, can I throw him out into the street in triumph then? Well he agreed jokingly (this was actually all fun and light hearted). Anyway, so I killed him, and so I ran to the door of the shop, and was going to pretend to throw him...except, he slipped, flew into the street, shattered, and major parts of him run over (it was a busy street).

I did not win sportsmanship at this tournament :(

Welcome to the forums Celthulhu!! Well, my PMS story isn\'t quite as dramatic as yours - was playing our monthly D&D game with hubby and friends and hubby (Grumb) kept harassing me about something (mainly because he was sitting as far away as he could and thought he could get away with it). Well, finally starting throwing whatever came to hand at him and a die bounced off Grumb\'s head and hit a friend\'s kid in the face that was sitting next to him. I felt awful! (for hitting the kid - not Grumb! lol )

@EricJ - way to make friends!! lol

At first I was horrified when I read this \'cause I thought you threw out the guy you were playing, not the mini!:eek:

I did figure it out later....

Not on an exceptionally positive note....

About 22 years ago I played in an AD&D group, all of us working at the same company. The DM, Phil, had gotten his girlfriend a job in the company and also into the group. She was really \"me, me, me...\" during gameplay.

A big argument started one night when she grabbed a jewelled dagger from inside a chest whose boobytrap I\'d sprung (and gotten wounded by). The whole group was up in arms accusing her of egoistic playing and such, the poor DM was pulling his hair out... what a scene. He probably slept on the sofa that night.

A month later, the girlfriend (Phyllis) packed up her bags and moved back to Alaska....

Hope it wasn\'t the game......???:(:(

Ya know, you would think that after working for years at the WotC Game Center and having been a gamer for so long, I should have some great embarassing stories. Maybe my ego is blocking them or something. :D

Only thing I can think of right now is when I was putting together some plastic mini for the store, and I had already finished off my shift and was just trying to get stuff put together so I could go home. I had forgotten to test fit before applying the glue, so the pieces didn\'t want to snap together correctly. Well, being tired, irritable, and lacking any sort of patience or foresight, I forced the two pieces together. They finally fit into place with an audible snapping sound, and I found that the pieces fit VERY snugly together. So snugly that it had forced the glue out of the joint and splashed it straight into my face. Luckily, I wear glasses, so the superglue ended up on my glasses (which still wasn\'t a fun thing to happen) instead of straight into my bloodshot eyes.

Wasn\'t much I could do with the glasses. I carefully (or as carefully as I could at that point) dabbed some of the glue off, but they still have little spots of CA+ glue on them. I now use that pair of glasses when I\'m doing a lot of spray work. :p

Edit: I\'ll try to think of other stories. I seem to vaguely recall upending terrain tables while judging Warhammer and 40k tournaments, but I can\'t quite put my finger on them right now. I think I spent too much of my time at the store sleep-deprived and hung over. lol
