Nostalgia proven worthy

I got HeroQuest for £27 on ebay. My girlfriend thought I was stupid, but I paid for it all the same. Last night she played the good-guys against me, the evil Morcar (Zargon in the US version). She was more than skeptical...she was pissing herself at the whole thing. However, midway through the first quest last night she suddenly became really serious and threatened to quit the game if I didn\'t let her reroll the Barbarian\'s attack dice after a huge miss. I held firm and we played on.

The point though, is that she was surprised at how good the game is/was. Also, I was very much in my oils. I don\'t intend to buy anything else along the same lines, though a Scalectrix is nagging away at me inside my head. I just wanted you all to know that - sometimes - nostalgia is a good thing.

There\'s no such thing as heroquest.
When i was at the last week of grade school, we always had the chance to bring a game, since there was no more school work.
So that\'s what we brought, heroquest and it\'s extensions. First day of that week we were 5 kids playing, at the end of the week there were 10 kids playing, some were playing those silly henchmen

God those were good times nothing but innocence ...... and an extra booklet created by us, full of house-rules

That\'s fairly brave of you I didn\'t ever have HQ, I was more of a Space Crusade fan. I think I gave it away during my big hiatus in the mid 90s.

Regarding an hiatus, I did a very similar thing myself. Gave all my stuff toa neighbour. I wish I\'d kept hold of the stuff now

I\'ve still got my original Heroquest (with two add-ons), Advanced Heroquest, and Space Crusade along with Space Hulk (two sets of stuff plus the Deathwing extra) and old Bloodbowl sets. They all live in my nostalgia draw and I occasionally look through the minis and think of the good old days.

I have had plenty of \'nostalgic feelings\' but occasionally I get so nostalgic that I feel weird....queasy is the only way I can describe it.....I know its odd, but I was just curious.

I\'m not sure I understand what you mean... If you mean the sort of nostalgia that makes you feel like a sentimental old fool, then yes... since I passed 30 I\'ve been getting sentimental at times.

I never feel strange but sometimes I get a sensation that I can almost smell the smells of whenever it was. Like a more \"real\" nostalgical feeling..

The only kind of bad nostalgia I can think of is the unwise-drunken-lay variety... Although I have to honestly admit I only have my friends word for any of mine

I bought heroquest at a boot sale AGES, purely to paint the figures, I never got round to actually playing it though, as I think some of the rules were missing...

I do have very fond memories of Space crusdae - the very first mini-game I ever played - although my favourite was \"Confrontation\" - a very early White dwarf version of Necromunda, where you recruited members, bouth your equipment etc...

I also have funny memories of buying SC the Amiga game at a boot sale - only to get home and realise the manual (Needed to get past the primitive copy protection) was in every language EXCEPT English, so if I wanted to play it I had to play in Spanish, German, or Italian! lol

Loved playing HeroQuest. For me it was the \"lite\' version of D&D i could sucker peopel into playign without them whipping out the D&D is satanic booklets. damn bible belt....

kinda like homesick? like when you remember that special place at home way back in time and you get all gutted that you can\'t ever go back.

I think I know what you mean. Sometimes I get to thinking about something that made me happy years ago and get pretty low knowing that time has passed and there\'s no going back. Another thing is when you get to thinking about something from your past and are convinced that you still have it somewhere around the home and you tear the place apart for days looking for it refusing to admit it\'s gone
