Erm, I feel kind of homesick when my girlfriends touches my *ahem* nipples...

That wasn\'t something to put in the public domain, but there we go. Job done.

And I\'ve had lots of those smells of late too. Some really comforting ones. The smell of mud and grass (think rugby or football as a kid) is a favourite.

They do say that smell is the sense most associated with memory ( I think). Smells certainly trigger more vivid memories of places, experiences for me - especially food smells.

As for the nipples thing... I\'m a little scared now :no:

I love the smell of new rubber.
I call it \"ernie\".
I had a sesame street play set when I was very young and to this day I can recall the smell of the rubber toy Ernie that came with it.

p.s. Sold my HQ years ago but kept the minis.
I am now trying to get a copy of SC but they don\'t show up in the states often.

Smell and memory are inextricably linked as a Google search will demonstrate.

An ex-girlfriend used to wear a certain perfume and even 20 years later, a slight whiff of it on someone else can have a profound effect:innocent:

Always loved this game. Noticed on boardgamegeek that there was a Heroquest adventure design kit put out, has anyone seen this?

Also thought this was a good place to pimp these guys (painted back when the game came out, pre-cmon)

If you really want a go at the smell/memory link, go to your bookshelf and pull out any special edition books (not just small paperbacks) that you loved from years ago, open them up and take a deep whiff. I have a graphic novel from the early 80s that I loved, and the paper or print has a distinctive smell that transports me back down memory lane. It literally is a rush of memories. My old D&D books cause a similar phenomenon.

The link between between memory and smell has been studied extensively. The olfactory lobes (smell), and limbic circuits (memory) are directly connected to one another, and are part of some of the most primitive parts of our brain. Similar wiring also explains why we remember emotionally charged events better than others.

Some of my mags still have that smell, ah bliss.

In a slightly different way, the smell of hops gets me excited. When they\'re a-brewing some beer in town, the smell makes me think of the promise of good times ahead...though this is probably also due to past experiences. Ah, my sweet, sweet beer, how you destroy the very thing that links my memories to you! :beer:

I used to play heroquest all the time as a kid. After a while, as we got into d&d, we\'d play the old heroquest maps and monsters with D&D stats for everything. Such fun...

I actually just got for christmas a copy of Descent, precisely because it reminded me of the good old heroquest days.

Fantasy Flight Games Descent

That\'s the page. lots of fun, I enjoyed it. It\'s a little different than hero quest in that you get to have a more active role in trying to stop the heroes, but I have had a great time playing it. And the heroes have a choice of almost 20 different characters. Many, many hours of fun. If you\'re really ambitious, Hirst Arts molds has instructions on building all the set pieces that come with the game out of their molds...
