Okay I mentioned that I've been working on other things over the last few months, namely painting horses and working with a new medium, oil paints. Since I've just begun on one such lucky pony, I've started this thread for people to see the work that goes into them.

Oil paint colours to be used are Titanium White, Ivory Black, Burnt Umber, Metallic Gold, Pearlescent white and Pearlescent Black (that one is a bastard to get as only one place does it and that is online too)

So to begin, I mix up the oil paints and add Poppy oil to quicken up the drying time and also a blending medium too to keep the paint from being too thick. Then its time for fun :)

This is the model I'll be working on. He had been customized before but had acquired damage so I decided to repaint him as a dapple grey.

ROFL!!! Great job Crys!!! Tear it up!

And yeah, Freak, that's a traditional sized Breyer model - Goffert if I remember correctly. He's a Friesian so pretty good size even for the traditionals.

Hey, Crys, if you have a Space Marine, put him next to the horse. That will be hilarious but it will also give folks an idea of scale for those who aren't familiar with the Breyers.

So finally got around to starting the dapples. Firstly tho a thin wet coat of the base colours and then you get the white to make the dapples
Yes that is the necromancer from the mortis engine at bottom of the picture for size ;)

The dapples take the longest to do as its a case of doing them, covering them and pulling them back out again. Will keep on at them.

@Krulebear. I'm loving oil paints and how they work for me, can't believe I never used them at high school.
