Got to laugh! Some folk have such high opinions of their skills that they put auctions like this up on ebay!

Okay, at first I thought he was just selling the one piece (saw it here on CMoN and almost fell off my chair with laughter) but it turns out we\'re looking at 4 pieces in the full retinue. Still, come on! They ain\'t worth more than £30-40 each on a very good day. Factor it up and put it into dollars, and you\'re still looking at about $200 (US). I\'ll eat my own toes if it sells* lol

So, what ARE you gonna eat? You can\'t make a bet and then don\'t own up to it if you lose! ;)

I\'d say it\'s a bit overpriced when compared to other eBay auctions, but then, considering the amount of work that\'s invested in minis you seldom get a good price for it. Good luck to him trying to get decently paid! :)

Actually according to the starting bid it\'s $449.99:eek: Now that\'s insane.

They are good models, don\'t get me wrong. Some of the best I\'ve seen, but not even at collectors value are they anywhere worth $450.

I\'ll make an important point now by saying that if he gets paid for it, good luck to him. Flip-side, if someone is silly enough to pay that much for it at that quality, then they need their heads read! The market dictates in these instances, but the question is one of just how fickle she\'s feeling this week lol

You\'d expect a top painter to put that together as commission work at a similar price though not by using their very best work (would surely take too long). But if done at speed by a top painter it would still be far better than these examples and will as such look quite spiffy. That\'s the key - don\'t ebay for quality, get commission work instead.

As this is a forum I probably shouldn\'t have to explain this...everything anyone says here is a matter of opinion.
I\'m not talking about the best YOU\'VE seen, I\'m saying that they are some of the best examples that I\'VE seen. The best is also up to opinion. I believe that sometimes a work calls for NMM and sometimes it doesn\'t. I believe that sometimes well done freehand work is worth more than a spectacular air-brush or whatnot. It\'s a matter of opinion, but I still say they are some of the best examples I\'ve seen. Though, still not worth $450+, in my opinion of course.

At 32 feedback the seller is a relative eBay newb. Setting the starting bid so high might be based on (decent pay per hour) * (number of hours). A foolish arithmetic, of course, since painting for $ apparently always gets you a lousy pay per hour unless you are a gifted speed painter (one reason I will never paint for money). But I would not be surprised if somebody pays it, they are pretty nice looking models after all. Not worth $450 IMO, but nice.

There\'s 150 figures in that army, which means opening bid is a little under $7.00US per figure. Per painted, converted figure. In a complete, playable army. That was featured in White Dwarf.

No, this guy isn\'t a Jen Haley or EricJ (perhaps not even a hack painter like me, for that matter!), but that\'s really NOT a bad price for an army like that.

Now the other guy with the marines is... shall we say... considerably less realistic.

I agree with the previous speaker! :)

Generally I feel minis goes for a low price considering the amount of time spent. but on the other there are a pretty small demand for them... we can\'t force the prices to be at a decent level. What we can do is issue our support for the poor suckers that try to flog their stuff over ebay :)

Though I agree on the marines. Maybe one digit too many.

speaking of EricJ and selling armies, I\'m about to sell 2, and I think I can honestly say I\'ll be pretty stunned if I managed to get $1000 each (they were painted several years ago mind you :D )
