Nurgle blight drone

Hi,

I saw the new blight drone by forgeworld and wanted to see if I could build something similar:)
This will also be a sneak peak for my \" Do you have a flag? \" entry on PB.

First of all, I built the initial shape using blue-tack and green stuff.

I then made some barb wire to act as the straps for the armour. ( The pics show the barb wire before the loops were trimmed to form the barbs. )

This is the beginning stage for the armour, it still needs to be textured, filed and the studs still need to be attached

well, this is it for tonight I think. So far I\'ve spent about 25 mins on the model, more to come soon!:)

Cheers

Edit: The pics are HUGE! Sorry about that!lol

Very good model mate, coming along nicely. The addition of the head shield firmly takes it out of shrimp-territory and into the arms of Grandfather Nurgle. No more fear of an aussie BBQ attack. :D

cool idea i love the idea of the barbed wire for the straps. i did one myself at the w/e. a great little tip for texture is to make a -ve cast of some grit and use it as a push mould. comes up with a lovely bobbly texture

the armour is a little rough looking but i would imagine with an appropriately decayed paintjob, i don\'t think it owuld matter

i\'m gonna do two, one as a gun drone and one as a sensor drone

@ Meph, I was thinking prawn aswell lol
@ Freak, Thanks for the tip mate, sounds good! I was planning on a fairly \"rustic\" paintscheme, so the uneveness of the armour won\'t be a problem.
Have you got any pics of the ones you have done?

Bit of an update,
I\'ve done a couple more armour plates, sculpted the flesh and boils and added various bits of piping, canisters, sensor probes, weapons etc.

The next step will be the \"wings\", this should prove to be a bit more challenging but hopefully it will work out OK.
Anyway, here are some pics :)

Nice progress, it\'s starting to look very nurglish. One thing perhaps is that the bulge under the \'head\' is perhaps a tad too fat compared to the FW model but actually that shouldn\'t matter as Nurgle is all about bloated stuff.

looks great fella, make sure you add flesh around the implants to make it look like they are part of the body.

sadly no photos of mine, couldn\'t get anything decent and then the battery went. i used a gs/magic sculp mix so it\'s very pale and hard to see the detail

I\'m glad you posted this as I was completely unaware of the Blight Drone minis. They are pretty cool models! Your attempt is looking pretty cool too. I\'m inspired to have a go myself! Looking forward to seeing how your wings turn out!

Btw, when you say the main shape was built from \"green stuff & blu-tac\", did you sculpt over the blu-tac or mix the two together?! If so, did it set?!

The main \" lump\" of the body was done with blue tack... mainly because I didn\'t want to waste tons of geenstuff that would never be seen. The blue tack doesn\'t set, but if you cover it in greenstuff afterwards, it doesn\'t really matter :)

for mine, i wrapped a load of tinfoil around a paperclip and held it in place with thin wire, it\'s pretty sturdy and is even cheaper than blu-tack!

freakinacage - do you have any pics up of your effort?

i dont have any clear plastic stands so im trying to think of a creative way to suspend it above the base... might incorporate some spore mine-esque tendrils :)

ive been growing oyster mushrooms at home and theyve given me some good ideas for freaky looking growths :possessed:

i tried but could get anything decent. and now i have actually lost the drone! how, i have no idea

i was thinking of suspension ideas. maybe have cabling holding it up. if it looks too long, maybe have it trailing on some scenery (masonry etc). i like what the second one did on fw, the fluid looked good

im with you on that one. the slime idea was cool. grim, but pretty cool! im gutted to be away this weekend and without my sculpting stuff. its always the case when insiration hits, so im just going to have to sketch lots of ideas to keep me amused.
