I have to agree with KruleBear, these are looking good! You did a great job picking out small details like the highlights on the clothes and her hair. I'm starting to paint some zombies for a different game and I look forward to seeing what you do with those Zombicide minis when you get around to them!

Thanks for the kind words KB! Really appreciate it! Yeah, eyes are still a struggle for me.

Zombicide is a pretty fun game. My friends and I have been playing for about 8 months are still loving it. And you are right, there are a ton of figures. The survivors are decently fun to paint; the zombies are tedious, haha. I'm glad I could help inspire you. Good luck on your minis. Post some pics once you get going; I would love so see your take on them.

They look great. I especially love that combat-ready nurse!
I have Zombicide Black Plague and my friends & I love it We've been playing for over a year, I'd say. I can be a little brainless, but it's a zombie killing game, so...

Thanks Kuribo!

Since their are so many zombies that come with Zombicide, I painted them up the quickest way I found that still ended up with a good look without a huge amount of effort. I followed Sorastro's guide to painting zombies on YouTube. I primed them with Army Painter Necrotic Flesh; basecoated with bright colors (it was helpful to get the Necrotic Flesh acrylic paint bottle in case of overspillage); then used Army Painter Quickshade for shading. Once the Quickshade cured, spray some matte varnish; paint some eyes; and add some blood effects with GW Blood For The Blood God. They turn out pretty decent and look great on game tiles.

Here's some pics. One with just the basecoats and the next after the Quickshade (no blood effects have been applied yet).

Thanks Toad!! I appreciate it!

Black Plague looks cool! I'm slowly working on getting my friends into that one. They usually prefer the modern day stuff, with guns haha. But I think they'll come around. I'm seriously thinking about backing the latest kickstarter The Green Horde.

I also busted open my copy of Star Wars Imperial Assault. I want to get the core set painted up before introducing it to the group. Stormtroopers are a pain in the ass to paint!!

Love those zombies, they look excellent for gaming! I think I should take a similar decision on my arcadia quest minis or I'd never finish them up.

Great job! The fatties remind me of middle aged Power Rangers after they let themselves go ;) I played zombicide a few times so I am backing "The Green Horde" so I could have a version of the game for myself. The exclusive heroes and abominations for the stretch goals are pretty interesting, not exactly sure how they dont get sued for some of them. I'll be using the zombie orcs from that game to learn how to mass paint table quality with my airbrush, and then give special focus on the heroes and abominations so they stand out more.

ROFL! :D
This made my day!

Octavian, what did you use on the base coat for the Zombie skin and which Quickshade tone? The base coat looks rather green but the finished skin looks more like a pallid caucasian flesh. That is a look I was going to shoot for on my "normal" zombies and then a greener shade for the Toxic Zombies.

KB I used Army Painter Necrotic Flesh and Strong Tone Quickshade. The necrotic flesh is like a pale green but the quickshade dirties it up pretty good and tones the green down a bit. For the toxics, I used the same necrotic flesh but then did a heavy glaze of a bright green over the flesh areas to tint the color and painted the boils pink. It worked okay, I should have used a bright green or a yellow-green possibly.

I somehow missed your response to my inquiry, Octavian. My apologies for that! I have been "studying" Sorastro's method for techniques I can glean and while I'm painting mine differently than him, it is seriously impressive how good that paint looks for the amount of time spent. Those minis will look awesome when you get them on the table.

@Kuribo - No worries, good sir . Just glad you take the time to check my thread. I'm anxious to see what you're doing with your zombies. Are they part of the Mansion of Madness game?

@BAM - Thanks BAM!!

On another note. I'm slowly trying to rotate in my stockpile of Reaper miniatures I bought over a decade ago but never touched. I'm working on this guy in between stormtroopers and survivors; trying to take my time and focus on technique. Not sure if I'm succeeding but practice and all that :smile-big:. As always, critiques and advice is always welcome and appreciated! Thanks for looking!

The eyes look pretty good and that is half the battle.

Thanks. I have the Necrotic Flesh primer, so I will try this scheme on another sacrificial Bones mini.

Thanks KB! I tell you what, it took me four or five tries to get where they are now and they still could use some work, haha.

No prob! Hope it works out for you. Be sure to share the result with us! Also, after the quickshade and matte varnish, you can always highlight up a bit to brighten or accentuate things.

Zombicide crew look great Octavian....a full painted set of minis definately enhances the game. Congrats on seeing them all though to the end as well, I know what a mission it was when I did my Blackplague box. I also used the same technique as you to wade through them for the zombie masses then spent some more time on the heroes/abominations etc.

Well worth the effort though.

Great start on the skin on the new guy too...keep us up to date as you push this one forwards

@Maenas - Thanks! Yeah, his right side is all like "Grrr" but his left side is all like "Gaahh!" haha. I should try and fix that eyeball a little bit.

@Hairster - Thank you sir! It is much more interesting playing with fully painted figures. When we run out of the painted zombies and have to bring out the unpainted ones, my friends are all like, "Gah, we used to play with these lame looking plastic zombies?" lol. We affectionately have dubbed the unpainted ones "puddies." I have plenty more survivors to get to but I'm kind of getting burnt out with them. I'm trying to juggle painting the Imperial Assault figs, a Reaper fig for some good practice, and possible rotate in some Zombicide survivors. We'll see how it goes, haha. Thanks for the support and interest! I'll try not to disappoint, lol.

I've pledged for Massive Darkness so that should be arriving in the next couple months. It's been inspiring seeing you paint up all of the figures of a game.
