Started work on the boots. I'm using Bailey's tutorial from Figure Mentors. Here's the link in case you don't have it bookmarked it on your browser, haha :glasses-nerdy::snicker: http://figurementors.com/painting-a-shiny-black-with-matte-paints. With the smaller scale on this guy it's a little difficult to keep the highlights and the black. And I think I may have lost the correct contours on the tops. Might have to start over on those parts. Idk, might be able to save it yet, we'll see. Any way, any C & C is welcome of course, lord knows I need it, lol.

Hey all! Been away for a bit, but I hope everyone is doing well. So, this may seem kinda weird, but I found this cheapo soft plastic Wonder Woman figure at the Dollar Tree and decided to repaint it for a friend. No surprising, the sculpt is not the greatest. I've never done anything at this scale before so it was interesting; frustrating and exciting at the same time, lol. I also received an airbrush for Christmas and, after zenithal priming a few practice models, I decided to try doing some actual painting with the new brush. The skin on this girl is mostly done by the airbrush. It turned out okay for my first time, but obviously need more practice. I tried doing Bailey's shiny black on the hair and that didn't turn out like I wanted. I also tried some OSL on the lasso, and that definitely could have turned out better. Really disappointed with that part. And my freehand stars are lacking, to say the least. But, live and learn. Like always, C&C is greatly appreciated, if you have the time. Thanks all, and happy painting!
This first pic is what the original figure looked like before I got ahold of it.

Dittos! Hard to believe it is the same model. The lasso is definately the weak point. Maybe take the outside edge of each rope layer and push it closer to white? The osl looks ok on the clothes, but too yellow on the leg...possibly glaze over it on the leg with you lightest skin color.

BAM, Coyote, and Chaotic - Thanks guys! Appreciate it!

Krule - Yeah the OSL didn't quite work out the way I had intended and you're totally right about making the lasso brighter. I thought about that a little too late; after giving it to the person, lol. But I appreciate the critique and advice. I'll remember that the next time I try it out.

Foxtail is right (as always!), the paint job the original figure had was very mundane to say the least and you've put tons of Wonder Woman's character and charm into the repaint. I've been tempted to try and spruce up some figures like that with painting before and after seeing the great results you've gotten, I may have to take the plunge in the near future! Keep up the awesome work and I look forward to seeing what you tackle next :)

Great job on taking a miniature that lacked a lot of fine detail and adding it back in with your painting skill alone. Breaths a lot more life into the mini.

Hey Kuribo, thanks so much! Yeah this was something really out of the ordinary for me, too. I was not sure at all how it would turn out. Since I've received some positive responses, I'm looking at other similar figures differently now, lol. Thanks again for the comment!

But isn’t it awesome .. the encouragement the wonderful feeling you get when you read these.;) you deserve it mate your painting has really progressed nicely.

Truer words have never been said, BAMmy-BAM!! These forums really do help to inspire and encourage and have definitely helped me to improve, as well as many others from what I've seen. I'm extremely happy I got on CMON and virtually mingle in the company of such great people and great painters. It really is something special. Thank you BAM!!

Hello all!! I've absent from the forums for a while, but I haven't been totally absent from painting. I haven't painted as much as I have wanted but still getting some things done. This is a substantial update so bear with me :). Up first are some heroes from Imperial Assault.

Not totally done with this guy. Still gotta work on the knee pads and toes. Attempted some "blue steel" on the gun and other metal parts. Still a little rough, but trying to push myself.

Not real happy with how the OSL turned out on this one.

I just recently got the game Fireteam Zero. Looked pretty cool. So starting to paint up the heroes for that one. I have started to get into using my airbrush a little more so for the grenadier I laid down a quick shadow/base/highlight job with the airbrush then went in with the paintbrush to re-intensify the shadows and called it good. It helped that he was mostly green, lol, made the paint job fairly quick.

Now I'm trying another repaint on my fave: Captain America! I used the airbrush for the blue parts so far. I'm not sure how to handle the shield once I get to it. I'm not too well practiced in NMM, but I could try. Otherwise, how can make the red and white parts of the shield look shiny and reflective? Mix some red into some metallic silver? Use some metal medium in regular paint? Any advice or suggestions would be majorly helpful! Thanks in advance!!

Anyway, hope y'all made it through all that, lol. And I hope everyone is doing well and painting away!

well,.. if your NMM is lacking, you could always go for TMM. Maybe get some anodized paint colors and use those.

Thanks BAM!! Yeah I'm excited to make some more progress on that one.

@Monkey, oh cool, thanks for the suggestion! Do you happen to have any recommendations for anodized paints?
