Ogre Bellower

Hi Folks,

I\'m looking for some comments on my ogre bellower http://www.coolminiornot.com/85253.

I\'ve been working on an OK collection lately, and the project is coming along slowly but surely. My last ogre received favourable reviews overall, but one of the points of critique was the skin, which was described as lacking some definition. I\'ve since deepened the shading, and I think the result is pretty solid. I am open to recommendations, of course!

Thanks for any feedback,

It looks good Mentor.

I like the the way the skin came out, it looks streched. The shading seems to be just right and blended well. I like the dark look of the cleaver in his hand.

The one thing that I am not sure about is the tattoing, it almost looks enhanced. Maybe its just the colors used, I don\'t know. Maybe its too bright.

Hmm, gotta agree with Drake on the tattooing, it looks a wee bit strange, at the very least on his gut-plate. For that matter, his eyes look a bit odd as well...such tiny, white, highlights.

Maybe I\'m just being paranoid now. *puts on tinfoil hat* :D

Besides that, the model is really great, especially for a unit. The pants are very smooth, and the NMM is quite well done. The checker pattern is a good touch, and nicely executed.

I appreciate the large picture, too. :)

I\'m on the tat lovers team...

...I think they\'re very dynamic, especially the one on the arm ;) The skin on this is a very different affair to the other ogre,there\'s much more definition. There seems to be more definition on the other Ogres belly plate but I can see a different effect has been aimed for so that may be the look you were after. The sword/chopper looks cool,I\'ll dribble over anything with checks! Overall though I\'d say it has a lot of realism, the glinting eyes, the nipples and the teeth all add lots! Great piece, cheers

Thanks for the replies guys. No need for a tinfoil hat Drake, I would never photoshop effects onto a model. The Ogre models just have really big eyes to work with! The effect was achieved by using an xacto to \'dot\' a tiny, almost dry chunk of unthinned white paint onto the model\'s eye. As for the tats, I don\'t know what to say. There\'s nothing remarkable about them painting wise. They began with 50/50 scaly green / ice blue, and were subsequently highlighted up.

I do admit to using photoshop for the cropping and compiling, and I adjusted the balance a tad to get rid of some of the yellow glare from my lighting rig.

Cheers,
