YEah, what NSA said. :D

Just incredible work. Think I\'ll just go back to my watercolors and give this up in despair. ;)

The NMM on these is very realistic, I had to look very carefully to tell. I think the metal-toed boots gave it away, but they still look great. The brass is excellent, along with the skintones, the blues, the bases, the wood, the bone,....

Stunning! absolutely beautiful. That skintone is to die for - the blending... superb!

I can\'t remember how the gold and silver demon winners looked in this catagory - looking at this you deserved a demon for sure!!

Margo, I think I\'ve probably already told you 2-3 times how much I liked these guys, but one more can\'t hurt, right?

Really really outstanding work, you\'re an inspiration :)

I\'m so glad you liked them! :)

Now to answer the questions ... Yes, the scales are sculpted (thanks to minimaker, who made a tutorial to show me how to do that!). the thing is, there\'s this \"Dragonhide\" Magic Standard in the Ogre Kingdoms army book -- the idea is, it\'s a hide of an Ice Drake. So I wanted to create that.

As for the rusty NMM, it was quite a tough task at first, but then I mastered the technique, and could paint it relatively fast.

Wonderful work Margo. Banner especially looks great!

Do you think using NMM at the UK GD may have affected your chances of being placed? These questions come up I know quite a bit. Just trying to cast my mind back to think of any winners previously.

lovely work

I particularly love the way that the skin on the front left chap looks really cold and affected by the weather. Adds to the snow on the bases. I can imagine steam blowing out of their noses lol

@Orb: yes, I think that might have been one of the reasons. When completing the final judgement, after picking bronze and silver, the judges were deciding between my regiment and yet another regiment of ogres for gold. That other regiment placed; there were metallics, a big display base, and there were more models in it. So I guess it\'s the combination.

@reverend: thanks!

lovely work margo, as always! don;t have much to say really, apart from that I do think the NMM would have put the judges off, it;s the age-old story.

I would love to be at a UK GD Judges briefing to hear what their criteria actually is.

Confused...

If the judges were having to decide btwn your unit of ogres and another for Gold, surely if you didn\'t get gold you would then get the silver or bronze? Why then would you not place at all if they were looking at yours as a possible gold?

I don\'t think they wouldn\'t allow two ogre units to win, as long as they\'re the best painted regiment it doesn\'t matter how many ogres win trophies?

I\'m not trying to be rude at all, I am a big fan of your work and I think this should have placed from what I can see... what you say doesn\'t make sense to me.... unless you were told by the judges? and if they did tell you that, why didn\'t they place you at all? Silly judges!

really nice work margo, amazing NMM, it was a great day! and it was so nice to meet you, i think i confused you a little bit with the 2 spainsh typical kisses (to the cheek you perverts!) to say hello, dont think im crazy:D and once more, amazing work i dont understand why you didnt pick anything up:( albert
