Ogre skin!

Hi. I\'ve recently started painting my ogres again. I\'ve been converting a bit and now it\'s time to paint. Only problem is - i don\'t know which skincolour to use! :(

I\'ve painted 3 ogres so far in a \'eavy metal type of way (like on the package) with a grey skintone using Chaos black, Catachan green and Kommando kahki. Also on one of them i made some \"warpaint\" in blooded colours... :|~
Kinda original huh?
I aswell painted one in a brownish colour using Scorched brown and Kommando khaki. Wasn\'t very pretty...

I need some tips on how to paint their skin! The warpaint is going to be white baby-bluish. But the skin? Enlighten me pls! :)

I\'ve always wondered why people don\'t paint the ogres in a more tanned color, meaning more brown in it, like my wardancer. I\'ve used Bestial Brown to Dwarf Flesh and gives a nice glow to it.

I\'m not too fond of GW\'s Ogres, both the skin and the models, but they sure are popular :D

Here is a link to some pics done with dipping by Jonas Færing from Denmark. Cool guy :D

Check out my gallery for a couple of ogres. The green one has blue warpaint, and was painted wih Catachan Green highlighted up to Bleached Bone. The blue guy was Shadow Grey with some Elf Flesh and Codex Grey, with black added for shading and white added for highlights. I have also started an albino ogre:

with Skull White, shaded with some Bleached Bone, Codex grey and some blues and greens.

Good luck

I always thought about doing my Ogre army in that scheme....It looks nice and cold.

Remember it\'s your mini so what colour you paint the skin is your choice. The GW standard of grey is OK but I have painted all mine caucasian skin colour. The most impressive army I saw had a mixed race theme so there were caucasian, african and asian skin tones. Try this. It is good practice.

Totally agree. Don\'t be pidgeon-holed by GW. Remeber they are always changing their minds - I have dark elves on cold ones painted blue as they were back in the distant past!

I paint my ogres a brown shade of flesh a bit darker than my minotaur up in my gallery at the moment. I would also consider full flesh tones or green shades though

Oi! Lots of good answers in here. :)
Asian is an awesome idea, too bad it came too late since im already painting 4 of them. :~(
But the theme i am using aint that bad either.
I\'m using a base of Chaos black, Catachan green highligted with more and morw Kommando kahki. Warpaint is a set of black meeting light grey. And so far I\'m very pleased with the way the warpaint turned out.
