aaaargh. i have just noticed a pool of dried pva glue on my carpet. i must have knocked the bottle over a few days ago (bloody cap not staying on..). and now i have a small disc of plastic welded to my carpet

is there any way that i can get rid of it (aside from buying a new carpet)? my landlady will rip my balls off

anyone? please?

Get a really wet washcloth, sit it on there for a couple hours, it should re-moisten and you should be able to scrub it out.
You might also try acetone (Nail polish remover) but try it on a spot of carpet that isn\'t visible to see if it stains.
If all else fails a hot steam clean should get it out.

yes do as dave says.. soak it buit keep an eye on it as it softens try and remove the glob as best as you can. The get some spray carpet cleaner and try and remove the rest.

PVA should be easier than CA glue..trust me been there done that.. at least I own the place but the carpet in my work room is crap now LOL

Big scissors?

Actually id try some hot water, it shouldnt damage your carpet (but don\'t trust me on that), i know for a fact that hot water can \"remelt\" pva so to speak, so even if this just helps to thin it out a bit surely that would help ???

Don\'t worry about any petroleum solvent based things, PVA is water-based. So it\'s just as Evil Dave said; soak with water. Then soak with more water, and eventually, it will dissolve.

Phew! Lucky it isnt waterproof. All I\'ve got is exterior wood glue around here, maybe I should think about switching over to some regular PVA type glue before my son decides to start \"decorating\" :D

Buy one of those small tables for putting vases on. The present you girlfriend/wife/mother with a new vase and tell them you have the perfect place to put it. They will be so blown away by your thoughtfulness that you\'ll have at least a week to leave the country before they get suspicious. lol

Funny you should mention this, I just woke up from a nightmare where I accidentally spilled paint all over the walls of our apartment. lol

Just like steam cleaning, I think it would work.

normally i would but she\'s a friend and i am really quite attracted to her. otherwise....

thank you all. the water thing worked. normally water doesn\'t work but i guess the heat \'melted\' it a bit too. it worked although i did stand in the glob before going out to a concert so when i got there, my sock was welded to my foot!! i managed to peel it off though

Reminds me of my favourite line from \'Bottom\'

\"I\'ve been soaking these underpants for three whole days....

...and I still can\'t get them off\"

no doubt followed by removal involving a blowtorch and then a swift poke in the eye. good old bottom. so vile and yet funny
