Yep, I\'m liking Dark Sword minis and just had a thought. I\'ve just finished painting another set for Dark Sword (Set #5 out later this year I think), and this time I really studied Elmore\'s artwork originals while I painted the minis to match. I think it would prove useful to many painters to push their skills by trying to match Larry\'s original paintings. I know it\'s pushed me to do much better and I learned a lot from studying Elmore\'s artwork. Lots about color and highlight, details, lots about NMM.

Only question I have for Larry is: how much do you spend on yellow paint each year??? Hardest part about color matching for me is going yellow enough to match his paintings. Sometimes it just looked silly to do so and I have had to take the yellow out. shrug.

I\'ve been given permission to post some of the stuff on Cool Mini, so I\'ll put up Set#5 this weekend I hope! And I hope to get you previews of the dragon...painted!!!

And I got the \"Motherlove Dragon\"(rather ugly) as well as the \"Motherlove II Dragon\"(smaller but very nice) from TBM, and You got it not, njah njah, njah ... oh well, yes, positive thinking ... You can get them easily now, TBM are back in business on their old website.

You missed another one if Your list is complete. Please do try to get the GW \"Lava Dragon\", that is expired now, I don\'t know which gaming system it belongs to originally. This Dragon is beautiful: sleek, cunning and bad.


To all the recent posters: thinking up names for dragon lovers that sound like a sickness is not appropriate. I do not appreciate that at all.

sorry to say so, but this is not a dragon that would appeal to me. It looks like a dinosaur with wings stuck on. The attributes that come to mind are slow and dumb.
A real dragon is fascinating, it is furious, it is distinctive!

Sorry if I do insult somebody out there. If I would have asked somebody to do a dragon and he gave me that, I would very strongly advise him to reconsider and start new all over because he missed the concept.


P.S. Yes, somebody already told me that I\'m a pain in the ass sometimes.

But they did a pretty good job of representing the orginal Elmore artwork...and I have to admit he looks pretty ferocious there. I, too, have never been a dinosaur or reptile dragon fan, but we\'ll see what can be done with him when I get him!

Yes it is true, my collection, whilst extensive doesn\'t have everything and the Citadel Lava Dragon is not one that I have, neither is the \"Mother Love\" dragon (1 or 2). The TBM My Hero dragon I have is not a very good casting at all, especially the base is very badly cast. The dragon itself is not too bad, but these casting problems have left it languishing at the back of my \"to do\" list for now.

The next dragon I do will probably be the Forgeworld one as he will be my entry to this years Golden Demon UK. Prior to paiunting him though I have a lot of stuff to work on so don\'t expect any dragons any time soon. I\'m not sure if you have looked at my website, but there are around 25 painted dragons on there right now.

Oh as for the new dark sword dragon, I posted the following thoughts on their message board:

\"I like the overall look of this dragon a lot. It makes a change to see one on all fours. Looks pretty big, which is always a good thing and the skin is nicely detailed. Its difficult to see the full effect of the model without the ear fins, horns etc. At present it looks a lot like a diplodocus! I\'m sure it will look more dragon-like when its fully assembled.

In terms of the artwork on which it is based, I don\'t think you have fully captured the dynamism of the pose. If you look at the picture you can clearly see that he\'s making quite a tight turn and is supported on only one leg, whilst this sculpted model looks like he\'s on the prowl. I would have liked to have seen more elements from the picture such as sculpting the spear he is pulling out of his side and I think that having a set with the riders as a full diorama would have been nice.

With regards to the base, it would be nice to see it more sculpted, with rocks and dead trees. Snow effects can always be added later and in my experience you need to have some good ground cover before adding the snow to make it look realistic.

Anyway, looks great so far and I would certainly be interested in buying one.\"
