Got a logo/profile picture in the works, one of the guys at the wargamers club is helping me out, then it will look REALLY good. Flu, I invited all of my seven hundre Facebook friends to like it, that should net me SOME likes at least.

That is some networking Oistene ;)

If I had to enter facebook I will look for you both, but I just enter that network 3-4 times a year, because I don't like the "you must enter everyday here" feeling that it gaves.

Thanks people - you can still look inside, even if you don't Facebook. Dazzler, your cousins sound... interesting. I'll leave it at interesting.

Much work done, little posting here! I'll try to not let Facebook take my attention away from my WIP here, though I've had to give it a little attention right now to try and get some work. Since my last update, I've finished the commission and posted it at my page, it can be beheld here, even for non-Facebook users: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.813181735452964.1073741838.803493159755155&type=3

As you might also notice, I've gotten a really cool banner and logo, provided by a guy a the club I don't really know at all! Going to give him some airbrush pointers in return (the little I know).

What else? I finished a lot of Warmachine troops:

Most of yesterday was spent trying out James Wappel's shaded basecoat on Wrongly and Snappy. The technique is loads of fun, and worked particularly well on Snappy (the big croc), which has a lot of areas with texture that needs to look similar, but should include lots of colors. Going to glaze these guys today:

I really like the bases of those elves, they really look like prairie/meadow with a little high grass... Are they "just" a lot of tufts and some sprinkled rocks? Because they look great ^^

I also like this croc guys ;)

Your commission work came out really well. Did you manage to stick to your timeframe?

Love your crocs so far and good job on the Warmachine troops.

Approval all around really. :D

Thanks Maenas - they are cork and wooden sticks, painted. The tufts are static grass, a mix of green and brown.

And thanks Arch - I fumbled the timekeeping by throwing out the note and only managed to keep a rough estimate, but I don't think I was much over, so I am happy. The bases probably pushed me over, but I spent a while figuring out the Flockbox and I also gave him upgraded bases for just a little extra, so that was okay. All in all I'm pleased, now I hope to find more assignments.

Spent the day working on some new projects, my Seether and a couple of Helldivers.

I've been leaning heavily on the box art, only making a few changes to my own taste. I want it darker and less shiny, so I dropped the steel and gold on the top 'shell', and now I worry that it is a bit plain. Should I make it more interesting? If so, how?

There's going to be a lot of weathering and battle damage on the final model.

Hi Oistene,

All of your stuff is looking really good. You've made some good strides of improvement since I was last hanging here.

With the Seether. I think you have a really good start and that with some weathering and battle damage the colour scheme should look quite good. At the moment its a little flat. Once you get some more shading and high lighting going on it should start to pop.

There's space there for a little freehand if you are game. But I'm not sure it would suit the model or its fluff, whereas dings and chips and rust etc. sit really well with Cryx (in my head at least). Keeping pushing on and trust your instincts. You can always add a feature later if it keeps looking plain.

Thanks Stew! Yeah, this is just a base coat, the only shading is subtle bit done by airbrush. I have considered if I could freehand some runes, but not sure if I want to go there, as previous jacks don't have any runes. At the moment, I am leaning towards keeping these colors, and start to shade it, then see where I go.

The other option would be to add some steel and dirty it up significantly and then weather it. It could break up the shape of the "carapace". But I think with the rivets painted and the weathering and battle damage that it will probably work nicely sticking with your current direction.

Considered both options, but ended up keeping it as it is as I want to keep the metal down. Have washed and glaced it now, highlight time!

A few steps later...

I botched the first try on doing battle damage on the Helldivers, and had to step back, read a few tutorials and do it differently. I am far happier with the current result - I could need to improve on the shape of some of the damaged bits, but I'll leave that for now and try if some pigments can be used instead.

Helldiver #1, the metal is supposed to be showing through the chipped paint, which didn't work too well.

Helldiver #2, with only rust under the chipped paint, looks a lot better.

And finally the Seether.

Thanks BAM! Yeah, I assumed the battle damage would get your approval. I think the seether needs a little blood in the final stage as well. :D
