Hello everyone I thought it might be interesting to see peoples very early work from when you first started painting(if you still have them). Here is one of mine, I painted it around when it was first released, I even remember were I was when I did it (oh sweet memories), I think I have improved a bit

Ah, Glyn, you were to quick for me! I was gonna give Crappy Mini or Not a plug for you, but you beat me to it. Still, I\'d highly recommend a visit there for anyone who hasn\'t been. It really is a great deal of fun!!

hihihi, I love this thread. I wish I had pics of my first painted mini. It looked truly horrible, I didn\'t know what washes or even drybrushing was. Just uneven coats of paint.

Brother Tom, the freehand on your Teclis is very...hm, interesting ;)

I repainted all my earlier work.
However, I did the repainting maybe 10 years ago, and some of them are posted here.

Look for \"mystery mini\"

or in my gallery in my sig line.

Why thanks I was extremely pleased with how the stars on the cloak came out,I spent ages studying star constellations if you look closely you can just about make out orions belt :D

Hahaha, yeah I see it! I also love how you didn\'t make the stars pointy, but rather as the distant blobs of light as they really are. ;)lollollol

I feel that pointy stars would have taken away the overall realism of the piece , when you paint something to such a high standard you have to consider even the small details such as that :D.

First minis

Well, you asked for it. These are some early Grenadier minis from 78 - 79 that were painted with Testors model paint using an old testors nylon brush and a stick pin (for the eyes.) I would have been 12 -13 at the time.

Actually you folks may have seen these before. I posted them in my gallery breifly for IPM when she was working on her speech.
Speaking of which (pun intended) wasn\'t IPM going to turn that speech into an Article???

Well, if you look at my mystery minis you will find my ten year old take on the second from the right of Grumbs minis, using the same materials and technique.
And some time when I get around to it you will see a brand new, 2005 (I know it\'s not getting done before new years) paint job with the latest materials and techniques of the same guy here or on Crappyminiornot. I\'ve alredy primed and laid a couple of base colors.

Mine actually came out of a slightly different set called the \"Dungeon Explorers\" which was set number 5001. For some strange reason twenty some odd years after I bought them I still have the original box.

I have one of the wizards from your set too, the third figure in your first row. But mine came with another Grenadier set called \"Action Art\" which was set 8001. That set came with acrylic paints and a real fox hair paint brush. I\'ll see if I can dig up a picture of it to put up.

I\'m really feeling old now... :(

Yay, I found my first mini! Well, actually it\'s my second mini ever, I think I had only heard about drybrushing at this time, but I still had enormous problems with keeping the paint in the right places. The face is nicely shaded and highlighted don\'t you think? And you can\'t go wrong with a heavy coat of gloss varnish. lollollol
