Old paintjobs

old minis and quality paint jobs
i am a recent convert to gaming/painting minis. i started with the battle games in middle earth by deagostini/gw, the first issue came with some goblins, 4 pots/splashes of paint and a big nasty paint brush. the evidence is still in the house , i might be brave and send some pictures if i can figure out how to? COMPUTERS !!! gunsunstummph doh!

Nice Job Astonia but you\'ll never compare to my freehand skills lol.
I remember my first minis painted when I was 8-9, (gee, that\'s 20 years ago 
). I don\'t think I would have even considered painting something on freehand. I was fully occupied with the task of covering the entire mini with paint without leaving spots of bare metal shining through. In a way you could view the entire paint job as some sort of freehand... maybe... crappy freehand, that is... :innocent: I didn\'t seem to bother about painting the actual detail on the mini. I sort of painted what I wanted to paint and left gaping holes inbetween. Awgh, these memories!! The horror!! :|~

What goes around comes around
I was doing some painting last night - rare in itself! using all the best gear which age and a decent income allows - Vallejo paints, Kolinsky brushes etc. This is in great contrast to how I started with Humbrol enamels some 40 odd years ago!
Trouble is that so much time has gone passed that another \"little\" addition is now required - a damn great magnifying glass.
I spent about three hours painting and I swear I\'ve gone backwardslol

I still have my whole very first High Elve army on my shelf, I dont think I could ever get rid of it.

Maybe looking back on it now it looks pretty rubbish ( I said maybe) but I was always proud of the painting I did and the main thing is that I had lots of fun, looking at my old work brings back great memories.

I don\'t have my oldest minis anymore. I threw them away when we were moving to a new house when I was 15. I guess I threw about 15-20 minis in the garbage. The oldest minis I\'ve got are those I painted when I was about 14. They look pretty crappy to me today, but they are a lot better than the stuff I threw away. Sometimes I wish I still had my old stuff, though. It would be fun to see them. I know I was very proud of a few of them when I painted them.

Painted two years ago when I twelve :duh:
Didn\'t know quite a lot, but read a bit, and a week later, tried to highlight with a skull white drybrush. But the bright side is ! I removed the mold lines !
I was damn proud of this one hour job, I even dotted the eyes with toothpick

I\'m pretty sure dry brushing hadn\'t been invented yet when I painted my first mini.
