OMG! I finished a figure!

Yup, I did it. I\'ve managed to get a ladder tall enough and I\'m just peeking over the top of the painting rut I have found myself in for a long time now.

She was destined as an entry for Chick Challenge 2003, but alas, the top rung on my ladder broke and I\'ve only just finished her.

She\'s on CMON, but not been approved yet, so couldn\'t put a URL to the proper page. If you have the time, or inclination, I\'d be grateful if you could put in a vote and any comments. I need all the encouragement I can get these days

Do I have to make one that big? Can I perhaps paint a Warmaster Scale Snotling or rat?

Got to say though, you\'ve broken your duck majestically. More strength to your brush!

That is one excellent mini! Great job on your NMM and skin in particular. The lighting looks like it\'s coming from below (is it a scanner?) but that really works for this mini.

The base is fantastic! How did you make it?

I took the pic with a digi camera - she was basking in full sunshine (yup did have some earlier), but I think it\'s more the angle of the camera that makes it look different. I really struggle to get a good pic - now that I got a tripod for christmas at least they are in focus! But lighting is my biggest problem now.

Re the base: She\'s standing on one of the columns Rackham produce. I used copper wire for the vines - twisted together and then twisted around the torso of the column. I left some as tendrils and then cut out leaves from paper, stuck them on and painted in-situ. The leaves aren\'t great, but after being too anal-retentive about them, I decided that it wasn\'t a bloody biology lesson!

The rest of the base is just greenstuff, brass etched ferns, a skull (drilled out with a vine crawling through it!) and static grass.

As the columns come in pairs and I also have the other Rackam Eclipsante, I guess I\'ll have to do the other one now

@Rev I think a warmaster scale hamster is a good starting point. From little acorns.....

Hey Tooshy,

you once told me you didn\'t paint anything for a while now, so to be honest with you, I was expecting only a regular paintjob. So you can guess this awesome paintjob really blows me away. It has everything to be a winner: smooth blending, great colours and a very original base.

I really can\'t wait to see some more of your Rackham miniatures!

Wow

Brilliant stuff tooshy! That redy-brown and green goes so well together, and the skin is a very nice contrast! Also like the NMM, looks very smooth and convincing. Though I have to say, the base really finishes it off. The mini has such a perfect pose to do this kind of thing with, makes it much more imposing, and accentuates the leaping attack motion it has. Tooshy comes back with a bang!

I think the vines are very nice. Quite creative. I\'m trying to work out how to do cattails, and I think I\'ll keep the paper on wire thing in mind to make the leaves with.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments - I\'m truely overwhelmed and almost speechless, but not quite!

I really am chuffed with how well she is doing - I know it\'s early days yet with the voting etc, but it has really boosted my confidence. I have the other Eclipsante model, so I guess I\'d better get started on her too.
