On the topic of bases

Is the mushroom painted with polka dots?

Of course!!!

Younger peeps may have been spared this, but at one point almost all Warhammer bases and indeed some figures featured at least one of these:

So anyone else out there love painting but just hate cooking up creative bases?
Nope. Quite enjoy the process. Still looks like a Turd 90% of the time.

I really can't remember the last time I looked at the ground and went, Wow!!
I have to admit looking very closely at the ground and going Ooow, Arrgh and F*CK! more than just a few times.

Purely IMO.... I detest those super-elaborate bases that contain rocky outcrops, exotic vegetation, half a scrapyard and a mushroom.
While I like a lot of well made bases, I have to admit that there are some where I feel that the base is overpowering the mini.
A personal pet hat eof mine is a scenic base where there is a tree 60 times(*) larger than the figure.

Agreed. I really love making bases. Sometimes I even make bases before I even have something to put on them.

Same, I've spent much of the day doing just that. Found some tree bark on a walk this morning and have been making stone ruins, broken paveways, chunky dungeon tiles etc...just from a piece of bark I found, and I have no particular mini in mind for any of them. Also I finished a base I've been making for a mini I haven't bought yet, but I know exactly which one I was making the base for, when she gets here it will be nice to have a base done and ready to go.

I think I like basing so much (even though I'm not the greatest at it) since I have a thing for making terrain. I like doing that and have a bunch of supplies and tools for that hobby so that transfers over to my enjoyment of doing custom bases.
