Just trawling through my emails and found this notice on the electronic White Dwarf email thingy...

CITADEL SPRAY GUN PRODUCT RECALL
As most of you are aware, we had our scheduled release for our Spray Gun for Saturday June 21st 2008. Unfortunately Games Workshop has decided to recall all Spray Guns that have been manufactured to date. Games Workshop prides itself on the high quality of its products and customer service. Due to this diligence we have just discovered a quality defect in the Spray Guns.

As we cannot be 100% confident in the quality of this product we have decided that the best course of action is to remove the Spray Gun from distribution until we can correct the problem.

If you have already purchased either the Citadel Spray Gun or Citadel Propellant please return them to the place you purchased them for a full refund.

Games Workshop is deeply sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

I\'m not making any comments - just letting people know just in case.

Yep apparently the guns leak from both the pressure line connection and the body. But not neccessarily at the same time.
Wow who\'da thunk it.

Inexcusable incompetence, what happened to their quality control checks? I bet they didn\'t even inspect the first batch.

True, but I at least give them credit for yanking it off the market.

companies often do quality control checks of the test runs.
it\'s after that when the defects creep in.

i agree with Vike, at least they are recalling them and offering a refund.
many companies nowadays carry on selling defective merchandise as it\'s cheaper just to sort out the few people who complain.

If you\'ve got one, you might want to hang on to it...

Imagine the collectability. \"The original crappy sorta-airbrush thingy from GW. Oh, and this is one of the leaky ones at both ends.\"

lol

how much would a good one (yet on the cheap end of good ones) cost?

@necroghast: do good and cheap ever go together???

this has been on warseer and dakkadakka for about a week now...i\'m not suprised that this cheap piece of crap is leakin\' out of both ends...i am however suprised that it\'s leaks that got this thing pulled, and not the fact that kids are usin\' it as a real hand flamer...what was gw thinkin\'?!?!?!?!

cheers
jah

I wonder if anyones had any freak accidents, clothes or stuff.

Play with an airbrush long enough, and you\'ll have those anyway. Before we repainted, I had a beautiful specled area over my easel.

@ Necroghast, not sure where your at or wanting to spend, so I cannot give specifics, but that thing compairs poorly to a $20 badger syphon feed.

try BearAir or Dixie Art

;)

AB gravity feed brushes are damn good value for their money (they are a rip off the iwatas and you only notice the difference when doing hi detail work)

the key is a good quiet compressor and just as important is a moisture trap (built up moisture in the hose can trash an afternoons work with ease)

on the technical front i suggest you ask airhead as he knows shitloads about this field.

And I have 2 Iwatas sitting here :(
My wife uses them to airbrush nail art.

If I were in charge at GW I personally would never even have considered the idea...

cheap airbrushes aren\'t any good generally and considering the GW one wasn\'t that far off the price of the cheaper ones out there and considering they have paid more to have it represent a flamer and then throw in their usual ridiculous mark up and I\'d hate to think how cheap that thing really is...

also it has very limited use for their products...apparently only useable with foundation paints and not many of them are great basecoats for tanks...

by all accounts the buzz at HQ is it won\'t be released...(?????) a bit of a disaster for them really... funny thing is they say it leaks but the three stores round here have been using them for weeks with no probs just not finding much use for them...

they should have used the money spent on this to invest in some good reliable coloured sprays and filters..

my two cents..
back to sleep..

Having looked at it and the bottem End Badger Siphon feed Spray that\'s basically all it is, in a differing holder.

And don\'t forget GW is \"outsourcing\" a lot of it\'s production of \'Off the Wall\' items to China. Cases in point the Washes and Foundation paints, the \"Basing Kits\"etc.. So I don\'t suppose that It\'s too much to expect that the AirBrush is an authentic Badger.

Looking at it again, Mike, you may be right on the money there.

Gen Pole, you like the AB Brand? I\'ve seen them, but never got to shoot one. I\'d love to take one apart beside my HP-B and compair parts and workmanship.

If they are that close, get the AB, then get a needle & cone for an Iwata HP and now you\'ve got a nice gun. :D

I somehow suspect that the cones are not interchangable - but that is just a guess on my part.

it\'s a poor mans iwata ;) if you want the reliablility of an iwata with the consistent fine detailing you can get from an iwata then you need to pay iwata prices unfortunately :(

if it\'s for priming, basecoating and general AFV work then an AB is a far better buy as the money you save can go towards a better compressor or beer (normaly i would go for beer but the quiter compressors realy are worth the extra!)
