ORC NOB!

Ok there is a contest(painting) very soon at my local venue. It\'s your run of the mill Diorama/indy Figure contest but you\'ve got to use GW mini\'s since I\'m on a tight budget I just grabbed a Orc Nob in \'Eavy Metal. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what colors to use for skin...Keep in mind I don\'t want the Happy Fun Orc look I want that evil \"I have a gun and not afraid to use it\" look. Also I\'d appreciate any Ideas as to a little Diarama that wouldn\'t take more than 3weeks to do.

Black basecoat. Then use black, dark angels green and a little scorched brown or bestial brown for the base colour, Catachan green looks good too for lighter colours.

Then use combinations of browns, greys and yellows to lighten the skin colour, up to you what you use, but yellow is brighter. I would probably use a yellow brown. You can also use brown glazes to tinge the shadows.
Use white if you want for the highest highlights.

hope this helps

I can really only echo what Trevor said....Dark Angels Green with a bit of Scorched Brown mixed in looks good, highlighted with your pick of Camo Green, a bit of Bubonic Brown, and some Bleached Bone. For the really dirty look, a tiny bit of Dark Flesh looks good in the shadows.

Cool thx I think I\'ll do the brown thing and see how it works....and hopefully I won\'t turn out w/ a luminating ork. Now what about a little diarama I was thinking about having a Ork Warboss the Orc Nob and have them shooting up a space marine bike or somthing like that any input?

Yep, orcs shooting somebody up is always cool. How good are you at converting? That is an important factor when it comes to diaramas. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well got to my local retailor tonight at about 10pm and wouldn\'t you know it the local Space Marine fanatic had just bought the last buggy AND! Bike for his cousins army........Now I\'m not a violent person but I shoulda smacked \'em any ways I just decided to grab a handful of bits out of the extras bin and I\'m just gonna make a stock pile of 40k stuff in the background of my orks. that way the judge (not a 40k player) will get a feel of the enviorment and the culture of the Ork.

P.S. I\'m not a 40k player either.....can\'t afford it I\'m only 16 hehe
