Orc stuff

By the beard of Zeus! Who'd have believed it, I'm painting minis. Actually putting brush to model and slapping paint about in a reasonably controlled manner. I'm kinda shocked!

So, here's a savage orc I've done. I'm doing a whole unit of these, so I'm going for reasonable gaming standard rather than competition quality. The base is still to be done properly and I will probably go back and do final highlights and detailing later, but for now the plan is to get a load more guys done to this sort of standard. Any thoughts?

Oh, and I'm aware of mould lines. They look very apparent at this blown up scale, but bother me less when the orcs are all lined up as a unit.

Also, the early stages of a troll, which I'll hopefully update as I progress.

I'm loving the color on the troll; the way the light is bouncing off of him it looks like hes underwater. Maybe you could do something with that?

Glad the troll colours seem to be working. He's certainly meant to have a water vibe about him. He'll be in a unit in the army, so I don't really have so much creative freedom, but an underwater troll would be awesome.

Here's the savage orc unit so far. Skin's just about sorted on them. Perhaps needs a wee bit more shading and highlighting. Everything else needs to be worked on to finish it off.

Almost done with the unit now. I know gaming stuff's not massively exciting compared to some of the other things people do around here, but I'm warming up, and actually finishing painting models is massively satisfying having not done it for a great many years. Will hopefully have the 10 savage orcs done tomorrow and am already working on boar boyz too. By next month I reckon I'll be ready to get stuck into something much more challenging.
