Orchid_Noir\'s life hit by hurricane Rita

I have an idea which might work since in this case getting help to her fast is important. Apparently she doesn\'t even have a matress to sleep on, and I\'d like to get that fixed ASAP.

So my thought was to sort of do an informal auction for a commissioned piece of work. I\'ve never done a commission, and may never again, but in this case it seems like the best way to offer something that will get help there as fast as possible.

Does this sound doable? Tracy I\'m at your disposal if you like it and want to run with this idea.

Is it just her and her son? she married? how many in the family?

How about one of those bank \"gift cards\"? I\'d like to help out too, but I think money for necessities is more realistic than miniatures, paint, or waiting for things to auction.

I bid $50.

Why is it unrealistic to donate the money from an eBay auction? I think that\'s a thing I\'m gonna do. Since Orchid_Noir is also a CMON member I also think that would be a nice token gesture.

Zora, you\'ve already outbid me. $50 is too much for me, though it would be really cool to get an EricJ paint job for a miniature I really like...

Well heck, I\'ll bid $175 for one of Eric\'s minis. That\'s probably as high as I can go but it should be worth more than that.

And I\'m outbid again...

Yeah, I can\'t go that high. But it\'s for a good cause, so I\'ll try not to be sad about it...:(

I will help any way I can...

email me and let me know what I can do.

I will keep her in my prayers. Being in Houston I almost got it by Rita myself.

My internet service has been out all day and I just got here to look and I see such goodness, but I am not surprised.

Yes it is her birthday today, I told her this is the start to a better year, She has three in the family herself and son and husband.
They have three folding camp chairs, two inflatable mattresses, the television she received when her mother passed away the day before Halloween, a desk she found on clearance so that she can finally set up a painting station, and the bird\'s loaner cage.

So many blanks we can fill
I had thought with straight donations to get a Money Order or Travelers Cheques cause you can use those anywhere. Her Paypal is not an option right now.
I am taking donations at the TABStudio@tampabay.rr.com I was going to get funds there for the bedding and do a suprise attack delivery child size first then if we have enough parent size. Minis that are sold for this can go toward these types of things

Grumb brought up good ideas
I need to get shoe sizes clothing etc I will get them and post them here also house hold items needed.
I am checking on paint supplies, brushes minis etc, and will post again in the Friday after I call her seems we have alot of donations in store for that, so that is a great thing.
Eric we\'re working on a feasable (and legal) way to auction your commission. We\'ll let you know when we get something figured out.

Tracy many people have auctioned off say a chance to determine and help design the idea what a painted does for his golden demon project and then the winner gets to keep it after the shows over.. worked pretty well..

Did that make any sence LOL

Thanks for the enthusiam everyone, we\'re working on plans to make something like this happen, it\'s the best I can think of to help quickly (without taking the time to paint something then sell it, in who knows how long, lol)...

I\'ll let anyone interested know when something is in the works, looks promising. And please don\'t let my effort stop anyone elses!! :)

Ok
I called Orchid_Noir and got needed info
Wendy\'s family is
Rex her son he is 8 Years old and wears a size 8 slim with a shoe size 1.5 mens usa
Wendy is a size 20
Allen is her husband an wears a size 38X34 and a extra large shirt.

They need all items beside Kitchen stuff ...you kind of got to have that and she budgeted already. She has all but potholders to survive. Now I feel sure it is the bare minimum supplies to exist in life. I would guess a crock pot or some other modern tool is not part of that equation.

They need towels and hand towels badly. They have no bathroom stuff at all.
All other rooms are empty besides what was listed before.

CF/Dauber Big hugs got it headed to find and organize a bed for Rex as fast as I can.
She has some paint but needs more so Eric its a go there, and Jeff yes brushes would help and a light.
She has some minis but others are needed I would love to see some GW minis fall in her hands she has Reaper now but the GW brings more bang for the buck.
I will update as I go
I have tomorrow off....pant pant pant...
I will get as much done as i can and focus on the how to\'s and a plan so we can push forward rapidly.
So far so good ... Thanks to you guys.

Brushlicker and Freak!
I\'ll do something, just better not be any painting, won\'t get finished until 2008.

I am tempted by the GD entry thing, that could be interesting... but that involves painting, recipe for disaster!

One bed down one to go

Trevor no disasters please just the word makes me jumpy :D
Non painting help would be to buy a gift and mail (email me directly for her address), ...you can email donation to TABStudio@tampabay.rr.com... or help think of a creative solution

Here is what happened today
CFWheeler,Dauber,and Schooley...
You have given a Rex a bed...feeling the Christmas glow ??? I hope so for you will make a child feel loved and it does not get much better than that.
Here is what is ordered

Mates bed

Blanket
the above are shipped to store for them to pick and that way there were no delivery charges to pay.

Mattress

The mattress is being shipped directly to them the only way offered for this item.
extra cost for that was 13.00 not to bad really. It was the most effective choice.

We have left overs to start saving up for the parents bed now. :D

Damn we are good Thanks to all.

I am going to write eBay and ask directly to see about how to host auctions for commission painting legally by their standards. We have also tried to get outside advice on this as well.
The scouts should be coming in soon so that will start the auctions for this and give funds a boost.

Grumb

used to be a Freak
Tracy you are a saint.... I just sent some more money to the Paypal account. Sorry for the delay...damn RL....

We\'re going to try to put some stuff together for Rex too, so please mail their address to Dawn or I.

Thanks,
Scott

I\'m mailing off a small Christmas package for young Rex on Monday. Hope that helps...

(TAB, I took your advice and thought of when I was 8, so he gets Lego and plasticene... Some of my youthful favorites! Though Gwendolyn may not thank me if the latter appears on her walls later :))
