Order Of Painting

depends on the mini... i tend to paint lower surfaces then higher surfaces... so with tyranids il\'l paint the carapace base coat then the skin then finish the carapace then skin then touch ups... reson for this is if i base coat the carapace after the skin chances are REALLY good il\'l get brown on the skin wich i dont want... a marine with a cloak or something il\'l paint the armour first... it all depends on the mini and what will give me less work on doing touchups in the end lol

I try to get drybrushing and metallics out of the way first so not to mess up parts of the model. I try to do what ever is furthest from me. So for example the chest would be because there are arms in front of them. This helps me avoid painting the already painted arms. However i usually just paint what i fee like.

I guess it is becoming repetitive now as so many painters take the same approach but for what it\'s worth I paint undercoat then all base coats, dry brush then ink rough surfaces (chainmail, fur), then from the skin out I finish everything else using layering technique.

I used to always start with the skin, but since I read the tutorial at the Reaper site on how to do eyes, I always start with them. I don\'t finish them, though, just put an outline around them and fill in with white. Then I do the flesh tones and hair. Clothes come next, and accessories (armor, weapons, etc.) are usually last.
