Ork grot herder...

Or something like that...

This is going be the last ork/goblin I do for a little while, but in order to finish the group I just had to have a go at the Ork boss/herder chap. I\'m going be spending some quality time with this one though - whether the end result will justify it, I don\'t know, but we\'ll see.

So, the base first. Take a cork boulder in roughly the shape I wanted it, cut away do it tapers towards the base, and then add some milliput in on the right side in order for it firstly to balance the figure on it, but also to make sure the figure can sit along with the squig he\'s handling.

After the priming, it all seems fairly natural looking!

And this\'ll be be a basic placing of the ork on top - minus heads of both ork and squig!

At the moment, I\'m toying with the guy\'s right hand - the standard one is some sort of cattle prod thing (I don\'t profess any knowledge of ork-y implements I\'m afraid ;) ), but on the sprue there is an arm with a whip - it just happens to be the wrong arm, but a bit of tinkering could easily fix that. The whip may well look better really, but I\'ll see how I go!

You did an excellent job on your gretchin so im looking forward to seeing how this one goes :)

oh, and the cattle prod thingy is called a Grot-prod, the alternative part on the sprue (the grabby thing) is called a Grabba stick. Hope that helps :)

A very ropey photo and some very slight progress - only the first stages of any highlights on the body, and after a small mishap with some glue (sigh), there\'s a fair amount of rework to be done, but hey ho!

Work continues - fair amount of work on the Squg still needs to be done, but I\'m fairly happy with progress so far (aside from the thing being slightly too shiny at the moment - a consequence of the glazing I suppose).

Well, what this mini has shown me is that I need to really sort out my metallics. Four strippings later, and I\'m only vaguely happy with the arm holding the Squig. I refuse to work on that bit anymore quite honestly. Anyway, the Squig itself is almost there - alas, when I came to paint the eyes on the thing, I found some serious flaws in the sculting and couldn\'t paint the damn things. So, a quick bit of GS and the wee chap has slightly mad bulging eyes. I think they suit him though!

Tomorrow, I think the head\'s going to get some work. It would be nice to show the thing how Mork/Gork created him ;)

Its looking really great :)

....and i know what you mean about the squigs eyes, they were a bit of a pain to do. Good thinking by using GS to make new ones

Keep it up.

I don\'t do very long sessions when I paint, but I get quite a lot done in them!

Anyway, as I\'ve had a day off, I\'ve had a pleasant time doing the head...It\'s nice to have it on the body really - I have an ork now, as opposed to some...erm...thing!

Okay, so finally done -

The Ork:

And again with his grots (don\'t really like this picture, but I struggled with this one - bloody Photobucket shrinking the size of my images without my knowledge!)

I\'ll put up a voting link for them when they appear.

Looks awesome. 1 thing, I think you should paint the scar on his stomach a more pinkish color or something.

I agree there just something to break up the green a little bit altough technically would Orky scars be pinkish?? they have green skin green flesh green blood maybe a darker or slightly bluer green may work..

looks great though and the unit has a great overall feel nice one.
