Ork Kommando Nob WIP, by Moribund

Hi! This is my first WIP here, but I joined quite recently and have gotten a lot of inspiration! ^^
I ran to Fantasia and got me the new Ork Kommando box, just beacause I absolutely love the Nob, and undercoated it.

Pics^^

This is my first model that I paint from a white undercoat, so this is quite an experience for me. I also tried a reverse highlighting technique, working my way from white to the deepest shadows. I have only painted the rock at the moment, because I needed something to experiment on, but I know that I will at least paint the skin with the same technique! :)

Next up are the eyes. Which colour should I do them in? I was thinking blue, just to be a bit alternative. Will it work?

Comments and crits are greatly appreciated!

Looks like a promising start, not too much to say at the minute. Get some more paint on it! ;)

As for the eyes - I would say that it depends on the shade of the ork\'s skin tone. The blue might make him look a bit docile or ethereal.

Look forward to more progress.

Cheers,
Tom

Yeah, I agree it might be a little meagre for a first shot, but this is my first model I photograph constantly during painting, so I figured I\'d be thorough. ;)

Eyes painted!

I haven\'t been able to paint so much his afternoon, I was at a friends house for a party, so go figure... :D
Anyway, I plan to get the first few layers on the skin down tomorrow, and will see where I go from there.

I can see that blue working well very Alien looking.....
look forward to seeing how this progresses as I am currently looking at a switch to white undercoat with a competition model I have..
good luck.

First two skin layers painted!

This will probably look a lot better when I get a few shades down, just the second layer made a great improvement compared to the first!
I only got a shot of the head, and will probably continue to do so while painting the skin (unless you ask me otherwise), but you can assume that the arms are in the same stages of painting at all times!

Now, on to painting, once again! // Axel

looking good

are you going to ink the skin as at the moment it looks very light and you might not make him looking like a big tough ork!

so id just darken it a bit,

The eyes look great though, keep it up

Oooh, no inks, this model is gonna look it\'s best! But I am going to keep adding shades to it until it\'s nice and dark-ish! :)

inks can look good...It\'s a case of being very patient using very thinned down inks light multiple layers.....Agree thugh does need to be a lot darker..

Yes, of course they can look good, but I\'m not fond of the shine it gives, and also I find it easier to make a good mix using normal paints! ;)

Nima, I was thinking of displaying it at Fantasia when it\'s done, so you can see it in person!^^

Frenchkid: It\'s a excellet sculpt and a beautiful model, absolutely worth buying the box for this one!

it seems like Umeå is the painting city of sweden... coool

I think that the white undercoat bring down the mini a bit btw... I would prefer a black undercoat :)

Yeah! Sweden rocks! Kinda... hehe

It actually seems so from time to time, I wonder why... :)

UPDATE! The skin is done!

I actually used a bit of ink on it, so now everyone\'s happy! A bright green glaze on the skin. :)

And I also think that this model wouldn\'t look half as good with a black undercoat, this is simply wonderful to work over!

Now, tell me what you think!

Axel

ps. Just realized that the pictures aren\'t exactly as sharp as I\'d wished, hope they work out anyway!

pretty good so far.
I\'d go with a bit of purple or red for the lip and the part where the claw is attatched to the right arm, but that\'s just me :p

That\'s a good idea, I\'ll try it out! :)

I also did the little plate thingy on the rock just now, next up are the skulls, but then I\'m clueless of what to do next! :p

Thanks for all the nice comments! :)

The head is completely done now! The white spots on the forehead and under his left eye are reflections from the glaze that hadn\'t dried fully yet. ;) I didn\'t want to use photoshop too much.

(Noticed now that the bottom lip could use some touchups. :p )

I also finished the rock he rests his foot on:

I thought the pattern would look good in some kind of jungly, south american indian style, and I will build a base to match!^^

Ok, that\'s all for tonight, sleep tight!

The lenses look really nice.
The skin looks a bit pale, maybe a bit more yellow in the highlights could help, or a glaze or two....
And the lip color dosn\'t quit fit in my opinion.

But truth be told, it\'s kind hard to judge with such a close up picture. I know people are always asking for close up, but I always feel it\'s hard to get a feel of how the mini looks with a really close shot. ..... just my 2 cents :p
