Ork Shaman - feedback requested

Hi all...


Just posted my latest mini, been working on him for a couple of months on and off... he\'s gonna be my WH single mini entry for an upcoming regional painting comp...

I\'m particularly proud of the base and the weathering on his sword blade... but as always, very interested in constructive feedback from everyone.

looks cool mate, voted as well.

if it\'s a gw comp be carefull as most single mini category require the miniature to be on it\'s gaming base. i.e. cavalry, 25mm or 20mm.

Wonderful! The blade does look great! I love the adition of the butterfly :D Great stuff :)

I\'m not the best qualified one to judge, but in my eyes and from that size of picture, it seems flawless. I\'m sure you\'ll do great at the competition. Good Luck!

Cheers mate, and yes it is a GW comp... have checked and it\'s on a 40mm square base (apart from the tree trunk overhanging a little) so the consensus is that it\'ll be allowed (I asked a few relevant people before starting it)... fingers crossed!

I was very happy the score had got up to 8.6, my highest ever... but looks like someone just voted it a \'5\' or lower and dropped it to 8.1!!!

Come on... is it REALLY only a 5?!!

I like it.But you know what? You should add some bugs on the trunk.
A trunk like that would be full of life:ants, mosquitoes...

How to make them wouldnt be a problem for you since your butterfly is breautiful.

It happens I\'m afraid! If it\'s an obvious sniping, it will be corrected once your mini get\'s over 50 votes by the anti-sniping algorithm.

Great work, nevertheless. I like the colour scheme and the painting is top notch! Furthermore, it\'s one of my favourite orc sculpts ever and it\'s always nice to see one nicely painted up.

Really? That is why! One of my minis were at 5 and wooshed to a 6 once it hit 50 votes... Good to know :) Does this correct all the time or just this once ?

@Rock, It\'s sad some people just go around giving bad votes, but really, they are just jealous... :) Your work is deffinatly an 8 -8.5

That\'s good to know about the anti-sniping software... though it seems to have jumped up to 8.8 now so I can\'t complain I guess :)

Good feedback about the log... the log is actually real, a piece of dried wood I found in my garden that was exactly the right size and shape for this model... it\'s been washed and lightly drybrushed but not more than that... which is why it doesn\'t stand out as much as the dramatic highlights on the ork.

I didn\'t want the base to overpower the mini, was a little worried the butterfly was too much already... but I think it\'s ok.

And yes... this is a LOVELY sculpt, one of the best ork figures GW have ever done IMHO, so much character :)
