Ork stickbomber Conversion

Brokenblade

Hi everyone,

As cmon was down i decided to start on my Goldendemon entries early(ish) and spent the weekend converting an ork who will be situated on the side of the howda of a gargantuan squiggoth, this is quite a step u from what i can normally do with greenstuff,

to be honest it is actually quite a simple process, and i have to thank everyone who\'s given information on these boards, or has written sculpting articles, because without them i wouldnt have been able to get anywhere near this stage, some of the tips i feel are most useful are probably the most simple, but they\'re so true.
  1. Sculpt a bit at a time, leave to dry, then add more.
  2. Get the armature as correct as possible and then work in layers on top of it.
  3. Use a wide variety of tools, anything will do as long as it\'s the correct shape (random household items can be used which is very cost efficient.)

Here are the pics :

and yes i am a newbie to sculpting, i think this about the 10th thing ive sculpted so the articles definately work :)

I\'ll have to explain the model, he will be throwing a stickbomb which is not yet attached, the end of it will be attached to the end of his index finger to look like he\'s just thrown it, anyway hope you all like it, comments welcome as always. :)

Looks really cool joe! I keep having a go sculpting bits and failing now and again, so if you can point me in the direction of some good tutorials you\'ve found or whatever then let me know :).

Nice job on it though and the entry sounds impressive.

I like the start of your work, Brokenblade. The throwing arm is excellent. The left hand seems a bit oversized for the arm unless he will have some sort of gauntlet or glove on that hand. The other minor critique would be to shorten his right index finger just a bit to make it shorter than the long finger (although admittedly I am not an expert on the finer details of orcish anatomy :)).

The biggest tip Ive found is courtesy of Kev White and that is knowing how long to leave the putty so it has the right properties for the piece you are sculpting.
