I\'ve been poking around looking for info on how they painted their skintones (I\'ve been dying to do a contest level ork for a while now) and haven\'t come up with much. Near as I can tell, they use some combination of brown, red and/or purple for the shading. Yellow, bone or anything neutral to warm should work for hilights.

If I find more I\'ll try to remember to post it here. The Automaton article is ace btw, if you haven\'t tried it. Way more realistic look than just by shading with inks.

Thanks Jericho, so its not me then, there really is\'nt eny \"How to paint ork skin\" around.

Cheers for the idea on how it might be done. Trial and error I serpose, and the Automaton article does look very good.

A guick Q for enyone--What undercoat should I give them, Black or White?.....stu.....

Go to automatons website \"Guild of harmony\". He has painted a couple of orcs and has written out what colors he used for his basecoats highlights and shades.
