Ork Warboss WIP - update 19/02/07!

Hi everyone,

My first WIP! :D An Ork Warboss, scavenged from my old Ork army and given a banner conversion. Nothing else special - all standard from the blister. Here\'s what he is at after around 8 hours:

warboss1.jpg

The banner isn\'t glued on yet for ease of painting ;) And horns are only basecoated brown, they will be bone when they\'re done.

Here you can see the stars and the warband numeral ;) It\'s a bit of a micky-take out of American rankings(with the stars) and the Imperial Guard numerals. Note he only has 4 not 5 stars - the grand warlord is above him ;) In case you\'re wondering I\'ve only done weathering on one shoulderpad to see what it looked like.

warboss3.jpg

A little bit of freehand on the magazine. Gage thing near the back isn\'t done either.

warboss4.jpg

And lastly a nice shot of his battered helmet. (yeah I know about the moldline on the gun :p I will try and disguise it in some way;) ) The metal rings aren\'t done yet either (as you can probably tell) and neither is the red fuel barrell for the skorcha.

Any contructive criticism and comments welcome!

Next update *should* be either later today or tomorrow ;)

Cheers,
Tom

Seem to be nice.

I like the stars and the racing banner on the helmet.

Keep it up

But please post smaller pictures

Looking awesome Tom! The freehand is great, very crisp. The metallics are looking nice too. Maybe his helmet could do with bit of a tidy, but other than that, great stuff so far :)

Update late :( . But I guess they always are and always will be.;)

warboss7.jpg

The symbol means \'Leader/Officer/Boss\' in Ork symbols so I thought that would be a good symbol to use.

warboss8.jpg

I went for a fairly neutral brown here to fit in with the rest of his clothing (which will be revealed when I paint it ;) )

warboss9.jpg

I dulled down the chips in the rust and added a little shading to the helmet. Also fixed the straight line problem.

warboss10.jpg

Added some more weathering to the shoulderpads...nothing much here.

Anyway, thanks for the advice and comments - they are both taken on board. ;)

Comments and criticism highly appreciated!

Cheers,
Tom

Thinking around adding some more highlights on the skull to make it pop, but the highlights are more distinct irl (picture\'s out fo focus)

Quite a fun piece.

Iono is calling for more highlights on that skull -- I say more shading. Sitting there on his belt it seems like it would get a bit more beat up and dirty.

I\'m quite impressed with the weathering on the pauldrons and the work you put in to the camo pants. Excellent work.

Bring us more work!

Thanks for the kind words misterjustin :)

I think maybe you are right - although it isn\'t nearly as clean as the photo makes out I will definately take your suggestion on board. Thanks ;) And I will try to have an update in the near future, so keep a lookout. lol

Cheers,
Tom
