Oi! I\'m currently doing a version of him. I\'ve embiggened mine a bit though as he looks a bit too retro for my tastes.

I\'d find something to put on the end of his pointy stick like a skull or something.

Well I think you have some really good things going here. I like your idears on the old-school mini conversion, and it looks to be well done.
I think your painting is good and you stick to a theme, with bright colors - and constistency always makes units look good. That theme though is also what is getting you into trouble. The use of yellows and reds for helmets and the like takes the focus away from the ork itself. You should always remember that, with very few exceptions, the face should be the focal point of a mini - that\'s where it gets it\'s life. As long you paint helmets that bright I believe you also need to bring up the highlight on the skin. That would help your minis alot.

I like the paint jobs the main thing that is making things hard on my eyes are the photos. I would make sure and resize them so they are smaller one so they fit on the screen and two so it gives an impression of what they really look like, that enlarged it exagerates everything good and bad about the paint job, and having to scroll up and down side to side makes it hard to see the mini. Also I wouldn\'t worry so much about photo shopping backrounds specially for wip\'s, your ending up with a jagged white line outlining your mini from it which detracts from your mini. Not to mention there are spots that are getting replaced by backround and your losing parts of the mini, most notably the boss with attack squig lost a horn.

I resized one of your meks pics to give an exaple of what I mean, also you see how the white outline was marginalized (tho I\'d still go for a white or plain backdrop for wip\'s easier atleast for my eyes to focus on the mini) also notice how on the one orb on his kff that the magic wand in photo shop also selcted some of your painting and it got replaced by backround. Hope this helps :)

I have a feeling that just simply resizing the pics will increase the amount of responses you get and will also help us see what your minis really look like so our feedback is acurrate :)

Also one thing I would echo is the weird boy needs something on his pointy stick :D

hi

thanks guys for some feedback
@friar- how big is that pic? and also how did you do the out line(i\'ve was trying to work it out but failed)\' also what photo thingy do you use?

@manus thanks for the kind words. theres a guy in my loacl GW who showed me some differant skins and i opted for the darker green because it made them look earthy, the only reson they are yellow and red is because i like painting the colours not really of what it looked like.lollol

@undave yeh thats where i got the idea from:)

but thanks all you guys keep \'em coming

Hi there!

First off, I have no idea why that guy complained about your pics being too big, unless he\'s on a 56k line, but then I think he found the wrong website. IMO, bigger is better, specially in a WIP thread!

Second: I like your work! They\'re a little shiny, but I suspect that is varnish? Try adding a second layer of matt varnish to take some of the shine off them :) Second, you should check this thread out!

I use gimp it\'s easy enough to do montages, crop, scale and some basic picture adjusting just takes some playin with. As far as the size I think I took it to 500 pixels in width, it\'s not that the pictures need to be tiny just small enough for the whole mini to fit on the screen without having to scroll up and down. Easy way to see if they are a good size is view the pic at 100% if your pic is bigger then your screen shrink it a bit try to get it so that the picture takes up 1/2 to 3/4 of the screen, up and down or across.

and I\'m not on a 56k modem fyi. Simply put if it\'s too big to be viewed on a monitor without scrolling up and down it makes it more difficult to get a sense of the mini as a whole, just like too small and you can\'t make out the details but it\'s not hard to get a happy medium that appears at a nice size that it shows off the piece to it\'s best.

Just take a stroll thru the wip section and see the size pics most everyone uses, that\'ll give you an idea where you want to try and get your pics to appear at.

lol Nick you didn\'t need to remove all the pics you had up :( I wasn\'t tryin to make ya go thru all that was just givin a tip on future pics, now I feel bad...
