Got a question for the Ork players out there -

Orks tend to use looted equipment, right?

I\'ve got an idea for a couple of conversions but just want to make sure that I\'m headed in the right direction with them

Yes they do, but im a bit unsure about the rules, however, I heard a rumour that they are the next 40k army to get a new codex (long overdue), so there may be some alterations anyway, if its a big conversion job you are doing i would put it off until the new rules come out just in case it isnt \"game legal\"

From what I\'ve seen of most ork models here, they use damn near anything they can weld together, you might have to be careful with WYSIWYG weaponry though. Isn\'t that how \"game-legal\" models have to work?

Well, actually I\'m thinking of using combination of pretty much everyone in WWII who\'s equipment I can lay hands on in my vast collection of old models and converting to a more Orkish look.

Actually, it\'s no longer WYSIWYG in the grand tournaments (unless they change it again for the next season). It\'s \"count as\". This was to take into account changes in army lists which may affect what you could now field and so you didn\'t have to buy and paint a new model just to fit. Strange for GW but hey, it\'s good. You just have to use an appropriately sized model. I suppose the idea is to be as close as possible so for example, using a missile launcher armed SM as a lascannon armed one. However, some people have pushed the rule to it\'s limit. Apparently in one of the UK GTs someone fielded sisters of battle to represent a tyranid force. lol

If you\'re thinking WWII you should be fine as most of those weapons can be described as Stubbers or autoguns (I would expect)

I\'m thinking more on the lines of vehicles and heavy equipment -

I have the start of an army mounted on German halftracks for truks and a larger scale Russian tank hunter for a battle wagon.

I\'m laying off that army for the time being though until I see what the new codex is going to look like

Well I was going through my kits and found a Nefalwerfer and a cracked up Dodge Truck - thought they would go well together with Orks.
