Not I..it was fun last year but apparently they didnt want me back.. are they doing a P&T again?

I may of said I might be busy about then but still never herd a peep from no one..well maybe mell at Gen Con last year..curious if they got a guest again.

Its a fun con, more media than gaming but cool. The weather last year was cold though for Florida standards.. I think it was in the 50\'s and low 60\'s which was tropical compaired to the sub zero temperatures I had left to attend but not the 80\'s it was a week before.

Have fun!

Unless Mel gave up her duties to get the P&T together they will have one. I know she\'s had a rough year but she seemed to be heading that up.

DFD, I was hoping you\'d come back. I missed last year (new grandbaby, etc.). This year I should be able to hit it full force.

I take it these guys don\'t have a mini competition? I couldn\'t find one on the site, that is....(but then I\'m not real smart).

Kev, no mini comp yet. We\'re still looking for someone to donate a decent set of glass cabinets so we can keep the masses away from the wonderful minis.

We started a few years back bringing in a Reaper team to run paint-n-takes. That has taken off great.

As noted earlier, Mega has only recently begun to take gamers a bit more seriously. Previously it was more of a dealer/sci-fi/comic book/anime type con.

What kind of cases do you have in mind?
Size/shape/quantity/etc.

As a general rule, you can get these things pretty cheap---and REALLY cheap if you \"vulture\" \'em from a out-of-business retail outlet. I might could start lookin\' for you---I love a good business auction.

A quick search shows these guys...

Basically, acrylic with a lock---everything else is dependent on how many miniatures you expect/floor space you have available.

Not bad
Hinged front w/ 3 shelves at $125. I\'ll point Mel in that direction and see if we can find a magnanimus sponser.

Sorry to be behind the 8 ball...

Well, here\'s the MegaCon update...

I\'d love to have Jeff back, but due to matters beyond our control it doesn\'t look like that will be possible.

My apologies to Jeff for not providing more feedback. He was a wonderful guest and the people who attended his classes had a great time. You could tell he opened a whole new world for them. He showed them things about painting and model buiding they\'d never known people did or thought possible.

I\'m wrangling minis as we speak. I\'ve put in my request to Reaper and awaiting their response. Impact sent me 50 models and I have 100 from Cipher. I contacted Lance and Laser and they promised another 50.

I\'ll let you guys know what I have and from who as the numbers come in.

As for a contest, a model club held one last year. The top prize for Fantasy was taken by one of my students, Kamal Batemon. I don\'t know if they are planning another contest this year or not. Last year it was there to promote a larger modeling contest later that year.

If you missed it, you missed a great time.

We gave away just under 1000 minis at the paint-n-take. There was indeed a mini painting comp, although single figure catagory was combined with large anime minis. Much discussion was had between us and the anime group to combine and hold a much better painting comp next year with splitting off several classes of minis.

Grumb was able to make a short guest appearance Saturday night and tought several people how to thin their paints and do a wash.

We ran 4 well attended table classes on basic painting, 2 intermediate and 3 on basing.

We were able to get minis from several manufacturers this year .

A big thank you to: Reaper, Cipher, Lance & Laser, and Impact

Our Sponsors

Our sponsors this year were Reaper, Cipher, Lance & Laser, and Impact. Cipher, if you are not familiar with them, make minis for Anima RPG. We had classes in Basing, Basic Painting, Faces & Skin, and Intermediate Methods. The classes went pretty well.
