Commented and voted on the little fella. The face is great. But i would have went for a brighter \'white spot\' on the orb/ball to help the OSL illusion.

I think the far side of the face (then one unlit) should be darker, as thats where the shadows would fall

Did the vote thing. I think the lighted parts should be a bit brighter and a shadow line but Shawn would be the expert in that. Like the paint job overall well done.

It\'s not a bad paint job, but I have to be honest, if you hadn\'t said that there was OSL going on I probably wouldn\'t have noticed it at all.

More shadows and more extreme light spots are needed to enhance the effect and make it really noticeable.

I suspect you did the same as me when you did this model:

You painted it normally, and thought you could add the OSL afterwards...
However, it seems to be a much harder way of doing things :/

I now have an almost finished figure that I don\'t want to possibly ruin by trying to shade it!

there should be a lot more contrast between the shadows and the highlights with the direction light and shadows dictated by the light source.

you have the basics down, just remember it needs contrast to make it work.

hope this helps.

I qiute like this, and noticed the OSL. Good first effort.

I admire the way you are not afraid to try new techniques, post them for all to see and then use the comments constructivley- You certainly are improving because of this.

The brightest thing on an osl piece should always be the source of the light, in this case the orb. It looks like some of the light on his face is the same brightness as the light source where it should be dimmer.
A very nice piece none the less, a 7 from me
