My buddy in Iowa, sent me another e-mail, things are going from bad to worse...... I imagine Vikey is building a ship out of GS right now.

We\'re having the worst flooding in the history of Iowa. City hall, the courthouse, police station, main fire station, most of downtown, all under water. the library is nearly up to the roof. That hurts, it\'s one of my favorites. Water use is restricted to drinking only, the city water is at 25%.
I woke up to no power yesterday. It was out for 3 hours. Could have been worse, 2 of the substations went under. The number of evacuations in the area is climbing, several small towns have been emptied. Electricity downtown runs under the sidewalks, those are under several feet of water.
Our campus is hosting over 200 National Guard and regular military. 150 nurses are coming in today. We had to hurry and clean up the dorms for them, even if the buildings are still under repair. The cafeteria is non-functional. The campus is closed today. In theory, that means I don\'t have to work. But they want 24/7 coverage so I\'ll go in anyway. I think I get double time and a half for it.
Expect food prices to jump sharply later this year. The midwest produces a lot of the food, and the farmers in the area, several states worth, are getting wiped out. Far too many will have no crop. Anything that needs corn and soybeans will be hurt. Look for shortages in beef, dairy, pork and poultry.
It may be even worse then we imagine. They saw some old fellow with a long beard running around collecting animals.
